 It is said that India is technically backward compared to
USA and other western countries, but we adopted many
advance methods at the time of Mahabharata itself.
 Mahabharata took place around 4th and 5th century BC.
 It is studied with much interest not only because of its
huge dynamic and political front but also because of its
rich scientific discussions.
 It deals with political affair between Pandavas and
kauravas.
Introduction

 In the days of Mahabharata and later medicine had been
very well practiced by profession
 Unlike the modern medical system based on experimental
system, ancient medical science was sourced through the
exploration on pure consciousness.
 It is said that with very advanced medical science is
evident in Mahabharata
 Sages like Vyasa, Bhardwaj, etc., are ahead of us in
scientific knowledge in terms of light years
Medical Science

Applications of Medical Science
Surgery:
 Cataract Surgery was known to
Indian Physician Sushtra.
 In those times cataract surgery was
done with the help of tool named
“Jabamukhi Salaka”
 It is curved needle used to loosen
the lens and push the cataract out of
field vision.
 Though this method was successful
sushtra suggested that this must be
done only in case of emergency.

by sushtra.

Applications of Medical Science
Right Brain Education:
 In Mahabharata as we all know
about Abhimanyu who carefully
listens about the entrance of
padmavyuh in his mother’s womb.
 Scientifically this kind of act is
known as “Right Brain Education”
 It is proven by Japanese scientist Dr.
Makoto Shichida. It says child’s
brain may be active during growth.


Embryo Development:
 There are 100 kauravas in Mahabharata, but these 100
members are born from only from one embryo
 They were created by splitting one embryo in 100 parts
and growing each part in separate container.
 Mr.B.G Matapurkar a surgeon said that “they not only
knew the test tube babies and embryo splitting but also
had the technology to grow human fetuses outside the
body of woman”.
Applications of Medical Science

Applications of Medical Science
Advanced Plastic Surgery:
 Karna the son of Surya(Sun God) is
born with a shield that protects him
 It may be biotechnological shield
similar to exoskeleton found in
tortoise but incredibly strong
 Unlike artificial exoskeleton used
by humans Karna’s shield was
mixed with his body.
Figure 3:Karna

Deadly weapons used in Kurukshetra
 When we read Mahabharata we could
observe incredible weapons used
frequently in Kurukshetra War.
 The description of these weapons
indicates an advanced science that
possibly existed.
 The weapons used in Mahabharata
were a combination of ancient earthly
weapons especially various types of
Asthras(Missiles) and
Dhanush(launchers).
Fig:4 During war

 Some weapons return back to the person who launches it. For
example Karna’s Naagastra and Krishna’s Sudharsana- Chakra.
This may be similar to reusable missiles on which experiments are
going on presently.
 Ashtras are used for both offensive and defensive. In case of
defensive purposes these may be similar to “Tesla Shield” an
incredible shield with could destroy many of incoming weapons
 In kurukshetra war there are totally 1.6 billion people died in just
a span of 18 days. It is possibly only if there is a involvement of
weapons of mass destruction.
 It is said that in war nuclear weapons are used and due to these
many people died.
Deadly weapons used in Kurukshetra

Deadly Weapons used in Kurukshetra
 To know about this archeologists
conducted surveys in and around
kurukshetra and results said that
there is some radiation present.
 A archeologist named Davenport
wrote about this in his book
“Atomic destruction in 2000 BC”
 Sixty yards from the centre are
melted from one side and all the
skeletons are flattened to the
ground in this war.
Fig:5 Radiation detector

 As now we have many divisions in Army like general,
lieutenant, major, brigadier etc., similarly in Kurukshetra
war they also have similar like these divisions but different
in names.
 Some formations are used to trap or kill oppenent army
and in 18 days nearly 17 military formations are used.
These formations contains
cavalry,archers,elephantry,infantry in required proportions.
 In those 17 formations Padmavyuh(lotus formation) is the
famous and the most typical formation.By using this
kauravas trapped Abhimanyu and killed him.
Military Formations

Military Formations
 Krauncha vyuha (heron formation)
 Makara vyuha (crocodile formation)
 Kurma vyuha (tortoise or turtle
formation)
 Trishula vyuha (trident formation)
 Chakra vyuha (wheel or discus
formation)
 Kamala vyuha or Padma vyuha (lotus
formation)
 Garud vyuha (eagle formation)
 Oormi vyuha (ocean formation) Fig:6 Padmavyuh

 Mandala vyuha (galaxy formation)
 Vajra vyuha (diamond or thunderbolt formation)
 Shakata vyuha (box or cart formation)
 Asura vyuha (demon formation)
 Deva vyuha (divine formation)
 Soochi vyuha (needle formation)
 Sringataka vyuha (horned formation)
 Chandrakala vyuha (crescent or curved blade formation)
 Mala vyuha (garland formation)
Military Formations

 Mahabharata happened nearly around 2 century BC. It is
difficult to achieve these kinds of technology in those days
 So it is believed that aliens had arrived earth on those
times and provided the necessary technology and
knowledge to both kauravas and pandavas.
 But some say those aliens are nothing but Gods who gave
them things required.
 But finally any how “Mahabharata is much more than a
mere story”.
