The Ukrainian educational system consists of five levels: preschool, primary, secondary, upper secondary, and postgraduate education. There are three school levels - primary from ages 6-10, secondary from ages 10-15, and lastly from ages 15-18. Schooling begins at age 6 and typically lasts 11 years. Education funding accounts for around 6% of Ukraine's GDP, with schools receiving 50% of funding from city budgets and 50% from the national government. Students take various exams in grades 9 and 12, though the examination system is currently undergoing changes.
