Definition: To CALL….is
To Summon somebody: God calls
people to himself, but this call is no
casual suggestion.
To call means to name, and to name
means to call into being or to make.
The invitation given to men by God
GENESIS 3:8-10
•“8And they heard the voice of the LORD God
walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and
Adam and his wife hid themselves from the
presence of the LORD God among the trees of the
garden. 9AND THE LORD GOD CALLED UNTO
ADAM, AND SAID UNTO HIM, WHERE ARE YOU?
10And he said I heard your voice in the garden, and I
was afraid, because I was naked: and I hid myself.”

1. A CALL FOR RELATIONSHIP
This is the foundation call without which other calls are
rendered irrelevant.
It is the core call to every humanity. It is God’s heartbeat.
Gives a believer identity…a sense of belonging…
Reveals what we are made of and what flows in us. When
we belong to Christ, His life flows in and through us.
God calls us for relationship first…
We will majorly discuss this today……

Rest from the worries of life –

1. A CALL FOR RELATIONSHIP
A relationship with God comes from His
amazing love and grace reaching out to us.
We were designed for relationships.
Sin brought the breakdown of a relationship
with God, resulting in shame and judgment.
Romans 5:12, “Therefore, as by one man sin
entered into the world, and death by sin; and so
death passed upon all men, for that all have
sinned.”
Adam was created to relate with God as a son…Luke
3:38…“Who was the son of Enoch, who was the son of Seth,
who was the son of Adam, who was the son of God.”
A son resembles the father (character, speech, works)
A son carries the father’s DNA = his semblance, blood
A son carries on the name of the father
A son carries on the will of the father
A son manages/takes care of the father’s (family)
inheritance.
When sin broke the relationship…man became a lost son…
Adam/Man was created to revere God, to worship
God, to honor God.
Man became a lost worshiper…he became afraid
of God’s presence…he began to bow to
anything…he gave himself to vain things….a lost
worshiper….
Now, God had to step into the scene and He
to seek calling out for His son….He began to call
for His lost worshiper. Gen.3:9 “But the LORD called
called to the man, “Where are you?”
Why does God want a relationship with the fallen man? (us?)
God chose us for a special purpose before creation. Eph.1:4-5
“According as He has chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be
holy and without blame before Him in love: 5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of
children by Jesus Christ Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.”
Why does God want a relationship with the
fallen man? (us?)
God considers us children of a Heavenly
Father - 2 Cor.6:18…
“And I will be a Father unto you, and you
shall be my sons and daughters, says the
Lord Almighty.”

God values us as precious treasures, capable of
honoring Him with our bodies and spirits - 2
Cor:4:7…
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that
the excellency of the power may be of God, and not
of us.”
Mark 3:14a “And He (Jesus Christ) ordained twelve,
that they should be with Him…”
WAYS TO KEEP YOUR RELATIONSHIP FRESH WITH
GOD..
1. Prioritize God in your schedule.
Make time for God….
When was the last time you spent quality time with
God?
When was the last time you felt awe over the love of
God?
Imitate Christ….Mark 6:45-46 “46And when he had
send them away, he departed into a mountain to

2. PREACH THE GOSPEL TO YOURSELF.
•As humans, we are forgetful and need to hear the
gospel over and over again.
•Share the gospel with yourself as you drive, or in
the mirror, or as you walk…HEAR THE WORD…
•As you repeat the redeeming story…the Word…the
more it is ingrained in your mind.

3. Get up early and pray.
Fellowship…NOT requests…Intimacy…not a list of
DO’S
Jesus did it (Mark 1:35) “And in the morning, rising
up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a lonely place, and there prayed.”
God visits you each morning to converse with
give you instructions…to give you strength & wisdom

4. Join a church Bible study or small group.
Get involved. Don’t be a Sunday
believer…be a full-time believer.
Serve God in church, at your place of
at your home…let it be a platform for

5. Listen to the Bible and memorize
Scripture.
When you read the Bible listen to what it
says…
Don’t argue or compromise on what the
Word says…just obey.
PRAYER
Those struggling to pray, read the
Bible, attend fellowship…there’s no
passion or enthusiasm for godly things.
Those feeling are far away from their
heavenly Father…feel lost… you long for
His embrace…His fellowship…
restoration…
