Among the selection methods used by the industry to select staff, the traditional approaches seem
to maintain their predominance over more sophisticated techniques. The psychometric paradigm
can be adopt in THL industry during selection by select the right candidates based on assess
individuals against the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) that required for the particular
job. As shown in the film, Wonka only wants a child who shares the same belief and value with
him to be the successor and he only employ the squirrels to work in Nut Room because only the
squirrels can get the whole walnuts from the shell. THL industry can also practice the same by
select the candidates that have the ability, skills and knowledge to perform the job. As an example,
hotel should only employ one who has the knowledge, skills and ability on finance to fill the

Skywalker Tragic Hero
As we progressed through this year of sophomore english, we encountered many tragic heroes.
Grendel, Victor Frankenstein, Beowulf and now Macbeth and Walter White. A tragic hero is one
who has heroic qualities but all goes to waste as the hero experiences downfall, suffering or death.
The tragic hero I am analysing is Anakin Skywalker; more prominently known as Darth Vader.
This is my choice because he was born with the skills to become a jedimaster but with the
temptations of Darth Sidious, used his powers incorrectly and become the most well known villain
in the Star Wars universe.
When the first trilogy of Stars Wars films were released, Darth Vader was seen as the relentless

Anakin fights Dooku on his own and unarms him; making Dooku fall to his knees. The jedi rule
is to never kill an unarmed prisoner but by the manipulation of Chancellor Palpatine, he
convinces Anakin to do it. When Anakin returns to with an injured Obi Wan and Palpatine, his
is greeted by his wife Padme and she tells him she is pregnant. Anakin is excited about the news
but also nervous that the Jedi council will find out and he will be excommunicated. It is in the
Jedi rules that Jedi can not marry but Anakin did not follow. Anakin experiences daily
nightmares of Padme dying at childbirth and seeks help. Palpatine consoles him and makes him
a representative to his council and offers a way to save Padme if is willing to listen. Palpatine
tells Anakin of a Sith Lord who had the ability to save others from death and Anakin gets the
impression that Palpatine is asking him to learn the Dark side and that Palpatine is the Sith Lord
they have been looking for all along. Anakin informs Mace Windu of this news and confronts
Palpatine. Mace Windu has Palpatine cornered and Anakin arrives and must choose a side. By the
fear of his wife s death, Anakin sides with Palpatine and kills Mace Windu. Anakin disobeyes

Example Of Premium Pasta Maker
Premium Pasta Maker:
Instructions on How to Use:
You first need to mix up your ingredients for the dough, of course. Make sure that the dough is not
so moist that it will stick to your pasta maker. Also, make sure that the dough is not too dry, or it
will fall apart when it comes out. Mother thing that makes it easier when using this pasta maker is to
have two people working it. One will need to hold on to the dough and feed it in while another
turns the crank to make sure that the dough does not try to bunch up and get clumpy. Do this a
little at a time so that you can straighten the dough as it comes out so that there is not just a big
lump of clay at the end of the process. All in all, it is a very simple process even though it is a bit
easier with two people working together.

Pros And Cons Of Virtual Teams
Final Research Paper: The Pros and Cons of Virtual Teams
A History in the Making
From its very inception, the Internet was intended to create a means for a secure, reliable
communication network, with the strategy to connect people with data. Information that once
stood evanescent and restrictive by one s personal radius of influence, flourished into an evergreen
and ever spanning wealth of information. Alan Evans, Kendall Martin, and Mary Anne Poatsy, co
authors of Technology in Action (2016) state:
The concept of the Internet was developed in the late 1950s while the United States was in the
midst of the Cold War with the Soviet Union. At that time, the U.S. Department of Defense needed
a computer network that wouldn t be disrupted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Information is now not bound by the physical restrictions of printed texts, nor is access to
information limited to by geographical or temporal boundaries. Cyberspace immeasurably extends
possibilities for storage and transmission of information, and access to information.
Further still, technology has moved beyond a passive, library archive of at your fingertips
information to a collaborative, living structure of content available 24/7. Limited by bandwidth,
network connectivity, hardware capability, and user skillset, businesses today focus on supporting
the infrastructure needs of top talent for connectivity as opposed to shrinking geographical
distances. Don Tapscott and Anthony D. Williams, co authors of Wikinomics: How Mass
Collaboration Changes Everything (2008), pen:
Today the Net is evolving from a network of Web sites that enable firms to present information into
a computing platform in its own right. Elements of a computer and elements of a computer program
can be spread out across the Internet and seamlessly combined as necessary. The Internet is
becoming a giant computer that everyone can program, providing a global infrastructure for
creativity, participation, sharing, and self organization. (p. 37)
Quickly business has moved from point to point modes of communication, sending linear streams
of information back and forth like a ping pong ball, to a centralized storing of data, accessible for a
multiplication of efforts by anyone, anywhere.

America s Open Door Policy
Back then we werent very good friends with China but time goes on and more oppurtonities
come.Today America has created a law in which it will open a door for china. This policy began in
(1899,1900)for the protection of equal privileges among countries trading with China and in
support of Chinese territorial and administrative integrity. The crisis in Chinacoincided with several
major developments in the United States. A new interest in foreign markets had emerged there
following the economic depression of the 1890s. The United States also had just gained the
Philippines, Guam, and Hawaii as a result of the Spanish American War and was becoming
increasingly interested in China, where American textile manufacturers had found markets for
cheap cotton goods.

In the beginning session, clients are questioned about pre session change to initiate a discussion
about current clues of solution making and to inspire clients that change is likely (Lethem, 2002).
According to Osborn (1997), solution focused therapists reassure clients to tap into their internal
resources and strengths. Several clients might not recognize the strides that they are now taking to
resolve their problem. The goal is for the therapist to lead the client on the path of change;
subsequently that the client can recognize the authority clients hold to change their circumstances.
SFBT adopt that the clients are the experts on their lives, not the therapist. For that reason, the
counselor assumes an ambassador mentality, permitting the clients to educate the therapist about
themselves, and permitting the clients to direct the treatment (Murphy, 2008). SFBT is swayed by
post modern philosophy, such as social constructionism. The therapeutic process and its results are
understood as discussed among clients and counselors (Guterman Leite, 2006; Strong Pyle, 2009).
The social constructionist framework assists solution focused therapists to sustain the ambassador
mentality, since their belief that there

Biochemical Approaches On The Import Of Genetics Essay
Sociogenomics: Biochemical Approaches to Study the Import of Genetics in Social Behaviours
Literature Review
Sociogenomics is a relatively new research area that isn t very well understood. Scholarly articles
(e.g., Roberts Jackson, 2008) describe it as a field that explores the following: the identification of
genes that influence social behavior, the understanding of the influence of these genes on
underlying neural and endocrine mechanisms, and understanding the effects of the environment,
particularly the social environment, on gene action.
Technological advances paired with impressive progress in molecular biology and genomics make
this an appropriate time to attempt to understand the molecular basis of social life.
In Psychology 241, we were introduced to the OPRM1 gene, which is a single nucleotide
polymorphism (SNP). This gene can vary, in people, by a single nucleotide (A ↔ G). Ways et al.
(2009) discovered that people with the G allele showed more pain activation after social rejection.
In addition, these subjects show reduced opiate potency and, therefore, need more morphine to
counteract both physical and social pain. Ultimately, from this study, scientists made the novel
discovery that specific genetic mutations (i.e. OPRMI allele) can affect our social and
psychological behaviors (i.e. tolerance to social rejection).
Furthermore, scientists have recently claimed that the actual expression level of genes, at any given
time, also affects our social

The Role Of Immigrants In A Summers Reading
From the information we can understand that in the beginning of the 20th century large numbers
of immigrants came to New York City searching for more desirable life for themselves and their
future generations, the American middle class dream. In addition, these people believed that if
they work hard and have faith in themselves, they will be able to achieve a great life full of
satisfaction.
This idea is clearly reflected in A Summers Reading, the story is set in a poor immigrant
neighborhood in New York City. We know the characters are immigrants from their names.

Fragile X Syndrome Essay
There are many forms of mental retardation. Webster s New World Dictionary defines mental
retardation as a condition, usually congenital, characterized by subnormal intelligence (Agnes,
p404). Mental retardation can be caused by a certain birth defect due to a traumatic event during the
mother s pregnancy, or mental retardationcan also be inherited. The most common inherited form
of mental retardation is Fragile X Syndrome. Fragile X Syndrome was identified in the year
1991. This disability affects more males than females. Approximately 1 in 4,000 males are
affected, however only 1 in 8,000 females are affected (Lombroso, 2003). Fragile X generates in the

no speech problems. The area of conversational skills could be a weakness for girls with Fragile
X (NFXF, 2005). There are many characteristics as you look at both the male and female side of
the disability. One main characteristic is that many people with Fragile X also have autism, or
possess many behaviors that are autistic like (NFXF, 2006). Autism is defined as a developmental
disorder marked by impaired social interaction, communication difficulties, etc (Agnes, p43).
About 2 to 6% of children with Autism have Autism because of Fragile X. About one third of
children with Fragile X have Autism (NFXF, 2006). Also, many people with Fragile X can be
confused to have Downs Syndrome. The physical characteristics of Fragile X can be similar to

children with Downs Syndrome (Roberts, et al., 2005). Other characteristics can range from

Social Media Satire
A rhetoric for contemplation; what is social media s magnitude that encompasses an individual s
everyday life? As the unabridged ecosphere verves on with their day to day living: from wakening
out of bedstead to arrive promptly at work, to getting up late and hastening to class, surely in that
time frame we are predisposed or rather attaining some form of social media alongside with them. In

Ralph Waldo Emerson And Individualism
Do people in need have a right to be assisted by people who have the means necessary to help; is it
better for the recievers to be aided, or to solve their problems by themselves? Many philosophers
throughout human history have analyzed and constructed arguments for and against helping the
needy and poor, as well as arguments for charitable isolation. Peter Singer is an Australian
philosopher who wrote Famine Affluence and Moralityin Philosophy and Public Affairs to
convince people of rich societies that giving charity to those in need is not generous, but is rather
morally obligatory to people that have the resources to help
Ralph Waldo Emersonwas an American philosopher that contributed to the concept of
individualism. As part of a series of essays, Emerson wrote Self Reliance to explain his personal
worldview of individualism, a moral philosophy that judges people based on their individual
personality traits, values, experiences, and values. The main idea of Self Reliance is that people
should not conform to morals and values of other people, but should instead let their values be
shaped by the life that they lead.
Garrett Hardin on the other hand, was an American philosopher and ecologists that wrote Lifeboat
Ethics in Psychology Today to differentiate a world that has a single authority leading it, from a
world that has multiple authorities without a supreme captain to dictate right from wrong. Hardin
further explains how distributing resources based on

My Original Definition Of Social Media Essay
1.My original definition for antisemitism was: antisemitism is the conscience or unconscious
hatred of a Jew or Jews, because of certain characteristics that the hater believes the Jew or all Jews
possess by being Jewish. However, one thing that my original definition does not hint towards the
wide spectrum of behaviors that are antisemitic. This is an advantage that your definition has. Your
definition mentions a spectrum form mildest expressions to exterminatory activities. Your
definition goes on to list different examples of antisemitic behavior. One category of behavior is
not mentioned though, and that is the use of social media to do such things as cyber bullying. We
talked some during the course about social media, especially at the end of the course when we
discussed the six parentheses symbol. Perhaps a better definition of antisemitismcould come about
by combining our two definitions and making mention of social media. The new definition could
be: antisemitism is defined as the conscience or unconscious hatred of Jewsor Judaismfrom its
mildest expressions to exterminatory activates. The activists include making jokes, cyberbullying,
the destruction of religious objects, defacing synagogues, and murdering Jewish people. This new
definition considers actions despite weather or not the hater is aware of them. For example, a
person could have always been told that Jews are greedy. This guy goes around telling jokes about
Jews being greedy. He is engaging in

electric current supplied to the coils in the guideway walls is constantly alternating to change the
polarity of the magnetized coils. This change in polarity causes the magnetic field in front of the
train to pull the vehicle forward, while the magnetic field behind the train adds more forward

Critical Criminology Marc Lepines

Miller (2009) indicated that, Critical criminology is an umbrella term for a variety of
criminological theories and perspectives that challenge core assumptions of mainstream (or
conventional) criminology in some substantial way and provide alternative approaches to
understanding crime and its control, (p. 210). Some of the critical perspectives of crime include
Marxists, political economy, and Critical feminism. Donnermeyer DeKeseredy (2008) summarized
critical criminology as perspectives that consider views sources of crime as a weakness within the

in that particular society. Radical feminists experience strong influence by the male dominance

Flaws In The Odyssey
A hero is someone who has given him or her life to something bigger than oneself. (Joseph
Campbell) The Odyssey is an Epic about a greek hero named Odysseus. He s escaping from the
Trojan War and he s trying to return to his family safely. During his journey he meets many
complications and obstacles that stop him from returning home. An example of a creature Odysseus
faced was the Cyclops. The Cyclops was a one eyed creatures that lived in a cave and Odysseus
went into a feud with a Cyclops named Polyphemus, he was Poseidon s son. During these
conflicts Odysseus doesn t portray heroic choices or traits. Odysseus is not a hero because he puts

These people believe that Odysseus was a strong leader, he s brave, and he s loyal to his family.
They are wrong for viewing Odysseus as a hero, and here s why. First of all, a strong leader
wouldn t treat his shipmates like slaves, instead he would listen to their desires and try to put
them in action. Odysseus was a brave hero for facing the monsters and for defending his
shipmates, but he had to show mercy to the opposing side. During the journey, Odysseus was
very violent and he always assumed that everyone is trying to murder him, so he attacked
anyone and anything that opposed his ideas or actions. Lastly, a good hero wouldn t hide the
truth about his shipmates deaths. In addition, a hero wouldn t betray his shipmates and leave
them to run into their own deaths just to see his family. This was when Odysseus went to the
blind prophet and she said that the ship and crew will get destroyed and he ll return safely, he still
continued his journey with no doubt. Some people might that it s a sign of loyalty, but it s not
because he s taking away lives to return home. These were all true and valid traits of Odysseus, but

Biography of Patrick Henry
Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? These noble,
forthright words were spoken by a fiery young patriot and great orator who had dedicated his life
to the goal of winning rights for the people of America.
Patrick Henry was born on May 29 of the year 1736 in Studley, Hanover County, Virginia. He grew
up in a Presbyterian believing home, Patrick s father, John Henry, was a Scott, who taught Patrick
most of his schooling until he was about fifteen.

There he met a girl named Sarah Shelton. They spent a lot of time together that year and in the
summer of 1754, they got married. Their dowry was a lovely little homestead with a few acres.
With only a few slaves and himself, they soon found that it was not enough to live on with a
brand new baby boy. Then, one dry summer, their little home was burnt to the ground by a brush
fire. This devastating occurrence left the young Henry family completely broke and homeless,
and all they had left was themselves and their slaves. They then moved into the second story of
the Shelton s house until Patrick could find another job. Sarah was not well after this devastation,
and she was taken care of by her family when Patrick was away. Patrick first went to the closest

was invited in, and for a moment could not find where the speaker was from all the books

Analyzing Abortion Essay
Analyzing Abortion In 1973, Roe versus Wade instigated an ongoing debate in the United States
concerning the implementation of abortion (Rubin 1). Prior to Roe, abortion was illegal, however
it was practiced. In 1846, a few blocks south of Manhattan s Greenwich Village, Madame Restell
performed illegal abortions to cure female irregularities, or pregnancies (Rubin1). After Restell, a
group called Jane , also known as the Abortion Counseling Service of the Chicago Women s
Liberation Union, performed more than 11,000 illegal abortions from 1969 73 in Chicago alone
(Horst 1). Though the Court decision lawfully settled the argument, the abortion issuedeveloped

As of 1997, 49 countries, including many industrialized European countries, have abortion
legislations similar to the United States (Henshaw et al. 58).
The abortion debate is controversial because it predominantly centers on society s religious and
moral beliefs. Religion is the leading variable of individuals opposing legalized abortion in the
United States (Kelley). Furthermore, Kristin Luker believes that the moral positions of activists
on both sides of the abortion issue reflect their individual worldviews on sexuality, family life,
technology and the importance of the individual; however, the pro choice and pro life movements
are not effective in changing people s moral beliefs on abortion (Luker). The key issue our
candidate must address is the federal government s participation in funding state sponsored sex
education programs and greater coverage of abortion costs.
The public s stance on abortion has remained relatively stable since the Roe decision. Fifty six
percent of the general public feels that abortion should be legal in certain circumstances such as
rape, incest or health complications. Overall, pro life advocates views on abortion tend to be
congruent across the board. Ninety eight percent of abortion opponents feel it is morally wrong in
all circumstances (Scott). However, the pro choice movement is more fragmented in its opinions.
Twenty seven percent of pro choice people support abortion even though they believe it is morally

Alfred Hitchcock Point Of View
Alfred Hitchcock s cinematic style contains an array of stylistic devices, notably the point of view
shot. Using point of view editing, the audience repeatedly [sees] events through the eyes of an
individual character. (Walker) The audience is privy to only what the character knows and likewise
absorbs the character s emotional journey. As the audience s emotional investment/identification
with the protagonistgrows, so does the plot amplifying the audience s empathy for the character s
heartache, longing, and anxiety, creating the perfect recipe for a suspenseful thriller. Hitchcock

his wife. Additionally, the audience feels the same panic and fear when he witnesses Lisa being
trapped in the apartment by Lars. As Jeffries focuses more on each character, the audience learns
more about that character s personality and life. For instance, Jeffries nicknames a woman in a
lower floor, Miss Lonelyhearts. Together the audience witnesses with Jeffries Miss Lonelyhearts

Worship Is a Verb
Book Review
Worship is a Verb: Eight Principles for Transforming Worship by Robert E. Webber
The title of this book, Worship is a Verb, might suggest that it is the major premise of the book.
Indeed, in the first chapter Webber lays out his contention that worship is a verb something we are
to be doing. He continues to come back to this thought throughout the book.
Description of the Book
Chapter 1, Winds of Change
The author begins the book with his personal frustration with worship and his perception that there
is a widespread shift in thinking concerning worship. He lists five new insights he has had
concerning worship and eight principles of worship. The author expands on these eight principles in
the next nine chapters. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Personal Evaluation
The major thesis of Worship is a Verb is that Biblical worship is a re enactment of Christ s life,
death, and resurrection. Therefore, this primary assertion must be true for the rest of the book to
hold together. Webber says that the content of Old Testament worship is determined by the
Exodus event, while the content of New Testament worship is determined by the Christ event
(2004, p. 28).
Webber then notes three parallels between the Exodus and the Christ event. He points that Christ
reveals himself as God revealed Himself to the Israelites through Moses message of deliverance.
He talks about how Exodus was a redemption of Israel from the oppression of her enemies and
was commemorated by the yearly Passover. Similarly, Christ s death on the Cross provides us
redemption from sin. After the Exodus, God created himself a people as He and the
Israelites entered a covenantal agreement at Mt. Sinai. Similarly, Jesus, who is the New
Covenant, has created himself a people, the Church of God.
The problem, however, is that Webber fails to prove that Old Testament worship actually recreated
the Exodus event. Yes, the Israelites celebrated the Passover yearly, but there is nothing to suggest
they did so on a weekly basis. Furthermore, while Webber says that the worship of

History of Golf
There is general agreement that the Scots were the earliest of golf addicts but who actually
invented the game is open to debate. We know that golf has existed for at least 500 years
because James II of Scotland, in an Act of Parliament dated March 6, 1457, had golf and football
banned because these sports were interfering too much with archery practice sorely needed by the
loyal defenders of the Scottish realm! It has been suggested that bored shepherds tending flocks of
sheep near St. Andrews became adept at hitting rounded stones into rabbits holes with their wooden
crooks. And so a legend that persists to this day was born!
Various forms of games resembling golfwere played as early as the fourteenth century by sportsmen

In 1848, a golfing clergyman from St. Andrews, the Reverend Adam Paterson, experimented with
a substance from India called gutta percha. It had been sent to him as padding covering a gift
and he found that the material could be softened with heat and then molded into a hard ball. The
gutty as it was known was not an instant success as the smooth ball tended to duck in flight.
Players soon found that its performance improved at the end of a round when the ball received
some nicks and scratches. Therefore, newly molded balls were scored all over with a saddler s
hammer with such good playing results that the demise of the feathery was certain.
The gutta percha ball lasted for approximately 55 years until succeeded by the Haskell ball in
1903. An American dentist, Dr. Coburn Haskell, ran some experiments by tightly wrapping a
liquid filled rubber core with strips of elastic then covering it with a gutta percha casing. North
American golfers began to take the new ball seriously when Walter Travis, originally from
Australia, won the 1901 United States Amateur Championship using the Haskell ball. When Alex
Herd won the 1902 British Open Championship again using the Haskell ball, golfers everywhere
dropped the gutty and clamoured for the Haskell!
Modern balls have a more durable cover of balata or surlyn and various solid core balls with new
synthetics have become popular. As well, we have seen the art of club making go from the original
wooden clubs, to forged irons,

The Chinese Stock Market
The Chinese stock market is celebrating its 25th anniversary later this year, and its first 25 years
have been a fairly consistent story. There has been a history of large, government driven rallies,
followed by dramatic sell offs that have left many investors angry. As of August 2, 2015, stocks
are down 29% from their peak in June 2015. The current bear market defined as a fall of 20% or
more from a peak is the 27th that investors have suffered in the past 25 years. It is the 21st worst
in terms of losses . The government has intervened heavily during this most recent bear market,
and although the intervention created some short term relief, in the long term the heavy
intervention is setting China up for future trouble. Since opening up its market to foreign trade
and free market returns in 1979, China has been one of the fastest growing economies, with
GDP growth averaging nearly 10% through 2014. China is a major global economic leader, and
is the world s largest economy (purchasing power), manufacturer, merchandise trader, and holder
of foreign exchange reserves . The economic financial crisis in 2008 had a large impact on China
s economy. Growth slowed, exports declined, and millions lost jobs. The government implemented
a $586 billion economic stimulus package, and loosened monetary policies. The stimulus package

What Is Candide A Satire
Naivete and Satire in Jonathan Swifts Gulliver s Travels and Voltaire s Candide
A child has the ability to make the most critical and objective observation on society and the
behavior of man. How is this possible? A child has yet to mature and lacks proper education and
experience. However, it is for this very reason that a child would make the perfect social scientist;
his or her naivete may provide an excellent means of objective criticism and most often satire. A
child s curious nature and hunger for knowledge would bring about an unbiased questioning of
social structures, minus the brainwashing of these very institutions, and his or her vulnerability
would expose any societal dangers present. This child like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Finally, both works are travel tales, which expose the main characters to many perspectives. This
allows the authors to satirize many aspects of society.
These two satirical works make litotes of preposterous situations, thus shedding light on the
absurdity at hand. This is an especially effective technique, because a character or narrator is
involved in a ridiculous situation. The reader, from an aesthetic distance, is then able to recognize
the foolishness of the incident. After careful consideration, a satirical conclusion may be drawn. For
example, Voltaire s narrator describes a brutal battle scene in a lighthearted manner:
Nothing could have been more splendid, brilliant, smart or orderly than the two armies . . . . then
rifle fire removed from our best of worlds about nine or ten thousand scoundrels who had been
infesting its surface. The bayonet was also the sufficient reason for the death of several thousand
men. (22 23)
The diction in this passage is ironic. By referring to a battle as splendid (22) and brilliant (22), the
narrator demonstrates how common the idea of warfare has become and how little the human life
is valued. Also, the phrase, Our best of worlds (22 23) identifies optimism as a focus of this
satirical attack (Maurois 100). In this way, the narrator nonchalantly discusses grave matters.
Maurois cited both Voltaire and Swift as using this

Wireless Evil Twin Attack
Abstract
In Today s world multiple Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) can coexist in a airspace.
Every wireless mobility devices tries to find the access point through probe request using a unique
name that is the Service Set Identifier (SSID) of the network to make automatic authentication. As
a wireless user you are concerned only with the broadcast SSIDs that let you connect to a WLAN.
This paper discusses about the Wireless Mobility devices communication security issues using
Basic Service Set Identifier BSSID or Extended Service Set Identifier ESSID which a network
administrator need to keep track of. Also it discusses about the available flaws in it and how by
modifying the probe request header we can make the connectivity more secure for the new

Introduction
Every wireless mobility devices tries to find the access point through probe request using a
unique name that is the Service Set Identifier (SSID) of the network to make automatic

When the user physically moves the laptop from one room to another, the BSS used could
change because of moving from the area covered by one access point to the area covered by
another access point, but this does not affect the connectivity of the laptop. In this paper we are

I. Abstract
The purpose of this water experiment is to compare two sources of waters and see if they would
affect the growth of beans. For the purpose of this test, multiple samples were implemented to
gather results with as much accuracy as possible. Every two days a study of our beans was
conducted. Measuring the growth/length of each bean. 40 samples were used. The team
hypothesized that the water from Foster Lake would grow plants faster than the water from
Kanakadea Creek due to the bio diverse nature of the lake and its inhabitants. The results gathered
show a surprising find in this study.
II. Introduction
Water is the most natural thing we have on earth. It sustains many organisms and those organisms
depend on it almost daily. Plants are such organisms. For this study the focus is the growth of
beans. Over the course of two weeks my team and I conducted research comparing the two types
of waters that were selected and seeing if they had any significant differences in growing beans.
The first week was inconclusive due to bean rot and negligence. Test two led to a more constant
observation of growth and change of location. Results gathered from this experiment have shown a
difference that different waters may have on the growth of plants. Beans that consumed certain

It is important to make it a habit to assume the correct sitting position every time you sit behind
your drum kit. This reduces the chance of any form of injuries because your muscles will not
overstrain but rather support your body as you play your instruments. Without a doubt, the backbeat
is the foundation of all rock drumming. The backbeat is the driving rhythm that the snare drum
plays. You almost always play this rhythm on the second and fourth beats of the measure. The
backbeat gives rock music its characteristically driving feel. As a rock drummer, you need to play
the backbeat with conviction. No limpwristed, drop the stick on the head stuff here. You need to

Women In A Scandal In Bohemia And King Solomon s Mines
In both Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s, A Scandal in Bohemia (1891), and H. Rider Haggard s, King
Solomon s Mines (1885), male figures utilize the femme fatale image of the monstrous feminine to
concretize or reaffirm views of a dominant patriarchal power (OED). Specifically, characters such as
Sherlock Holmes and Allan Quartermain, subsequently attempt to debase the influences of female
manipulation and superiority. The expression of this thematic trend occurs primarily through the
tension of ignorance versus insight, and the recurring images of dehumanization. As such, these
tropes express within each text the attempts of men to degrade women s inherent authority.
When considering Irene Adler, from A Scandal in Bohemia, and Gagool, from King Solomon s
Mines, the tension of ignorance versus insight is essential in preliminarily introducing the
characters position within the femme fatale role. Just as a femme fatale is by definition a woman,
who destabilizes male control, both Adler and Gagool use their exclusive access to information to
subvert male desires and boundaries of class (OED). For instance, Irene Adler exploits her
possession of compromising letters and photographs to blackmail the King of Bohemia and so, ruin
(him) by jeopardizing his marriage to another woman (Doyle, A Scandal in Bohemia). Thereby, she
exemplifies the image of the femme fatale by threatening the monarchy s stability with issues of
scandal while, alternately, ensuring that her

Literary Techniques In Cormac Mccarthy s The Road
Cormac McCarthy s The Road is a post apocalyptic novel that uses a literary style that most
authors do not dare to use when writing. McCarthy s style is very mysterious, given that he doesn

quotation marks when characters are speaking adds a certain wispy quality to the book. McCarthy
s technique unquestionably enhances the book s eerie aura; post apocalyptic novels can often be

British Airways is the UK s largest airline. Since becoming privatized in 1987, BA has continued to
grow despite increased competition (Connell amp; Williamson, 2011).
The UK s economic climate had a large influence to why the British Airways industrial occurred.

The unfreezing phase (Lewin s model) of this change was a gradual, drawn out process.
Time:
As this was not a company in crisis there wasn t a need to implement change reactively, British
Airways had time to achieve their long term strategy.
Scope:
British Airways did not require a transformation of the organisation as a whole. A realignment of
the cabin crew s operations and wage structure was the desired scope for this change. However, due
to the industrial action taken by Unite the change had an impact organisation wide.
Preservation:
It is important that BA preserves what makes British Airways, British Airways. This means they
need to retain their brand identity, because this is one of their biggest selling points. It is also
important to not destroy the business heritage and culture.
Job security for the remaining cabin crew will be at an all time low. Key members of staff need to
be reassured of their position so that BA doesn t lose these assets to competitors.
Diversity:
The change should not affect diversity between divisions. This means that the culture should
remain consistent throughout BA, from pilots, to cabin crew, to administration staff.
Capability:
The individual within the cabin crew will need to be capable of adapting to the new operational
requirements and be able to accept the change in

EXTERNAL ASSESSMENT
SWOT is considered a widely used tool to assist an organisation understand their business activity,
both internally and externally. The intent is to not only formulate strategies that support the
mission of the organisation but to avoid weaknesses, neutralise the threats and exploit
opportunities and strengths. (Davidson et al 2009. P212). SWOT provides the guidelines for
critically assessing what you re doing right, what you re doing wrong, who or what can take you
down, and what you can do to get and stay ahead of the pack.
The internal factors relate to the organisation s strengths and weaknesses, i.e. competency, and
competitive viability. An internal analysis using the data generated by SWOT will assist in the
development of planning objectives to grow and sustain a business. An analysis of the strength and
competency would include technology and equipment to accomplish work, which would then
support the brand identity, expertise, and resources of the business. The weaknesses are the
opposite poor technology, lack of expertise or deficient in assets. Once these deficiencies are

The Body Found By Sid Bennett
Many kids grow up watching Disney movies, and young girls who idolize Ariel from The Little
Mermaid hope that mermaids might be real. In the mockumentary Mermaids: The Body Found,
directed by Sid Bennett, the idea of mermaids is explored when the actors proclaim that
mermaids were found among beached whales due to Navy Sonar tests (IMDB par 2). Bennett
mixes fact with fiction in an attempt to get people to relate to the beached whales. He makes a
mockumentary that is believable to many due to how closely it resembles a real documentary,
complete with actors posing as credible scientists. Despite having no evidence, people want to
believe that myths such as mermaids do exist. Bennett s purpose of the film is to convince people
to care about how the Sonar tests affect whales by trying to make it seem as if mermaids are going
through the same thing. However, he is unsuccessful because he fails to make a connection with the
audience, does not have enough credible information on mermaids, and does not focus enough on
the whales themselves. During the mockumentary, an anecdote is told about a mermaidwho
sacrifices himself to Megladon, a huge, prehistoric shark, for his family so they can get away and
stay safe (Mermaids n.p.). This is an attempt to make the audience feel empathetic towards the
mermaids and to relate to them. It is human nature to protect young children and in the past it was
the man s job to protect his family. However, this is ineffective due to the randomness

  • 8. Biochemical Approaches On The Import Of Genetics Essay Sociogenomics: Biochemical Approaches to Study the Import of Genetics in Social Behaviours Literature Review Sociogenomics is a relatively new research area that isn t very well understood. Scholarly articles (e.g., Roberts Jackson, 2008) describe it as a field that explores the following: the identification of genes that influence social behavior, the understanding of the influence of these genes on underlying neural and endocrine mechanisms, and understanding the effects of the environment, particularly the social environment, on gene action. Technological advances paired with impressive progress in molecular biology and genomics make this an appropriate time to attempt to understand the molecular basis of social life. In Psychology 241, we were introduced to the OPRM1 gene, which is a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP). This gene can vary, in people, by a single nucleotide (A ↔ G). Ways et al. (2009) discovered that people with the G allele showed more pain activation after social rejection. In addition, these subjects show reduced opiate potency and, therefore, need more morphine to counteract both physical and social pain. Ultimately, from this study, scientists made the novel discovery that specific genetic mutations (i.e. OPRMI allele) can affect our social and psychological behaviors (i.e. tolerance to social rejection). Furthermore, scientists have recently claimed that the actual expression level of genes, at any given time, also affects our social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, this primary assertion must be true for the rest of the book to hold together. Webber says that the content of Old Testament worship is determined by the Exodus event, while the content of New Testament worship is determined by the Christ event (2004, p. 28). Webber then notes three parallels between the Exodus and the Christ event. He points that Christ reveals himself as God revealed Himself to the Israelites through Moses message of deliverance. He talks about how Exodus was a redemption of Israel from the oppression of her enemies and was commemorated by the yearly Passover. Similarly, Christ s death on the Cross provides us redemption from sin. After the Exodus, God created himself a people as He and the Israelites entered a covenantal agreement at Mt. Sinai. Similarly, Jesus, who is the New Covenant, has created himself a people, the Church of God. However, it is for this very reason that a child would make the perfect social scientist; his or her naivete may provide an excellent means of objective criticism and most often satire. A child s curious nature and hunger for knowledge would bring about an unbiased questioning of social structures, minus the brainwashing of these very institutions, and his or her vulnerability would expose any societal dangers present. This child like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, both works are travel tales, which expose the main characters to many perspectives. This allows the authors to satirize many aspects of society. These two satirical works make litotes of preposterous situations, thus shedding light on the absurdity at hand. This is an especially effective technique, because a character or narrator is involved in a ridiculous situation. The reader, from an aesthetic distance, is then able to recognize the foolishness of the incident. After careful consideration, a satirical conclusion may be drawn. For example, Voltaire s narrator describes a brutal battle scene in a lighthearted manner: Nothing could have been more splendid, brilliant, smart or orderly than the two armies . . . . then rifle fire removed from our best of worlds about nine or ten thousand scoundrels who had been infesting its surface. The bayonet was also the sufficient reason for the death of several thousand men. (22 23) The diction in this passage is ironic. By referring to a battle as splendid (22) and brilliant (22), the narrator demonstrates how common the idea of warfare has become and how little the human life is valued. Also, the phrase, Our best of worlds (22 23) identifies optimism as a focus of this satirical attack (Maurois 100). In this way, the narrator nonchalantly discusses grave matters. Maurois cited both Voltaire and Swift as using this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The users are usually unaware of which basic service set (BSS) they belong to. When the user physically moves the laptop from one room to another, the BSS used could change because of moving from the area covered by one access point to the area covered by another access point, but this does not affect the connectivity of the laptop. Essay on Leni Riefenstahl’s Triumph of the Will Propaganda Leni Riefenstahl s Triumph of the Will Propaganda I am going to discuss whether Leni Riefenstahl s Triumph of the Will (1934) was propaganda, or a representational recording of an event. Riefenstahl was considered an intricate part of the Third Reich s propaganda machine[1] , yet she claimed that: If you see this film again today you ascertain that it doesn t contain a single reconstructed scene. Everything in it is true. And it contains no tendentious commentary at all. It is history. A pure historical film... it is film vГ©ritГ©. It reflects the truth that was then in 1934, history. But only if I can be free after completing this project and do not have to make any more films to order[6] This compromise lead to a lot of tension between Hitler and Riefenstahl, and Hitler s idea for the opening of the film was believed terrible by Riefenstahl, due to its lack of artistic merit I [Hitler] would therefore like to make the following suggestion: I will ask the most important generals and members of the party to come to a film studio I will be present too. Then we will line up, and the camera will move slowly down the line. This will make it possible to emphasise the contributions of each person with a few words. Abstract The purpose of this water experiment is to compare two sources of waters and see if they would affect the growth of beans. For the purpose of this test, multiple samples were implemented to gather results with as much accuracy as possible. Every two days a study of our beans was conducted. Measuring the growth/length of each bean. 40 samples were used. The team hypothesized that the water from Foster Lake would grow plants faster than the water from Kanakadea Creek due to the bio diverse nature of the lake and its inhabitants. The results gathered show a surprising find in this study. II. Introduction Water is the most natural thing we have on earth. It sustains many organisms and those organisms depend on it almost daily. Plants are such organisms. For this study the focus is the growth of beans. Over the course of two weeks my team and I conducted research comparing the two types of waters that were selected and seeing if they had any significant differences in growing beans. The first week was inconclusive due to bean rot and negligence. Test two led to a more constant observation of growth and change of location. Results gathered from this experiment have shown a difference that different waters may have on the growth of plants. Beans that consumed certain water sources ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Without a doubt, the backbeat is the foundation of all rock drumming. The backbeat is the driving rhythm that the snare drum plays. You almost always play this rhythm on the second and fourth beats of the measure. The backbeat gives rock music its characteristically driving feel. • 34. Women In A Scandal In Bohemia And King Solomon s Mines In both Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s, A Scandal in Bohemia (1891), and H. Rider Haggard s, King Solomon s Mines (1885), male figures utilize the femme fatale image of the monstrous feminine to concretize or reaffirm views of a dominant patriarchal power (OED). Specifically, characters such as Sherlock Holmes and Allan Quartermain, subsequently attempt to debase the influences of female manipulation and superiority. The expression of this thematic trend occurs primarily through the tension of ignorance versus insight, and the recurring images of dehumanization. As such, these tropes express within each text the attempts of men to degrade women s inherent authority. When considering Irene Adler, from A Scandal in Bohemia, and Gagool, from King Solomon s Mines, the tension of ignorance versus insight is essential in preliminarily introducing the characters position within the femme fatale role. Just as a femme fatale is by definition a woman, who destabilizes male control, both Adler and Gagool use their exclusive access to information to subvert male desires and boundaries of class (OED). For instance, Irene Adler exploits her possession of compromising letters and photographs to blackmail the King of Bohemia and so, ruin (him) by jeopardizing his marriage to another woman (Doyle, A Scandal in Bohemia). Thereby, she exemplifies the image of the femme fatale by threatening the monarchy s stability with issues of scandal while, alternately, ensuring that her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

McCarthy s style is very mysterious, given that he doesn t give the main character s names at any point and his use of grammar is unorthodox. The lack of quotation marks when characters are speaking adds a certain wispy quality to the book. However, due to the industrial action taken by Unite the change had an impact organisation wide. Preservation: It is important that BA preserves what makes British Airways, British Airways. The intent is to not only formulate strategies that support the mission of the organisation but to avoid weaknesses, neutralise the threats and exploit opportunities and strengths. • 40. The Body Found By Sid Bennett Many kids grow up watching Disney movies, and young girls who idolize Ariel from The Little Mermaid hope that mermaids might be real. In the mockumentary Mermaids: The Body Found, directed by Sid Bennett, the idea of mermaids is explored when the actors proclaim that mermaids were found among beached whales due to Navy Sonar tests (IMDB par 2). Bennett mixes fact with fiction in an attempt to get people to relate to the beached whales. He makes a mockumentary that is believable to many due to how closely it resembles a real documentary, complete with actors posing as credible scientists. Despite having no evidence, people want to believe that myths such as mermaids do exist. Bennett s purpose of the film is to convince people to care about how the Sonar tests affect whales by trying to make it seem as if mermaids are going through the same thing. However, he is unsuccessful because he fails to make a connection with the audience, does not have enough credible information on mermaids, and does not focus enough on the whales themselves. During the mockumentary, an anecdote is told about a mermaidwho sacrifices himself to Megladon, a huge, prehistoric shark, for his family so they can get away and stay safe (Mermaids n.p.). This is an attempt to make the audience feel empathetic towards the mermaids and to relate to them. It is human nature to protect young children and in the past it was the man s job to protect his family. However, this is ineffective due to the randomness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
