Johann Friedrich Fasch was a German composer born in 1688 who studied under Johann Kahnau and at Leipzig University. He composed both church music, including 12 cycles of cantatas and masses, and instrumental music, producing over 90 overture-suites, 68 concerts, and 19 symphonies. His son Carl Friedrich Christian Fasch was also a composer. Johann Friedrich Fasch died in 1758 at the age of 70, though none of his works were written down during his lifetime and some have been lost.
