Work Plan 2019
SRIA Priorities
The objective of Section 1 and 2 Calls
of PRIMA AWP 2019 will focus on
the following SRIA priorities
THEMATIC AREA 1 WATER MANAGEMENT
•Priority 1 Water resources availability and quality within catchments and aquifers
•Priority 2 Sustainable Integrated water management
THEMATIC AREA 2 FARMING SYSTEM
•Priority 1 Adaptation of farming systems to climate change
•Priority 2 Developing sustainable and productive agro-ecosystems
THEMATIC AREA 3 AGRO-FOOD VALUE CHAIN
•Priority 2 Food Safety in local food chains
•Priority 3 Implementation of innovation in the Agro-food chain, promoting higher
quality, sustainability and competitiveness, with particular reference to smallholders
16. • Enhance innovation potential in the Mediterranean, a novel innovation model for the PRIMA programme tailored to its
specificities that captures all the actors, and above all the critical mass of end users: creation of local innovation
structures (Open Innovation-Open Research Labs)
• PRIMA AWP 2019 will address topics focusing on the Nexus among Water, Ecosystems and Food, which are expected to
become even more complicated in the future due to the impacts of Mediterranean challenges
• Embracing inter and transdisciplinary approaches and engaging a wider diversity of disciplines including social sciences
and humanities
• Capacity building activities will be key transversal component of project proposals, enhancing research and innovation
capacities in the field of water management and agro-food systems.
• Ensure Integration and Alignment activities to foster alignment among national programmes. Coordination with other
EC initiatives (JPIs, KIC-Food, EIP-AGRI and EIP-Water, ENI-CBC-MED) to avoid fragmentations overlap and duplications.
