About RMG Sector
The economy of Bangladeshis largely dependent on agriculture. However the Ready–Made Garments (RMG) sector has emerged as
the biggest earner of foreign currency. The RMG sector has experienced an exponential growth since the 1980s. The sector
contributes significantly to the GDP. It also provides employment to around 4.2 million Bangladeshis, mainly women from low
income families.
1950 was the beginning of RMG in the Western world .In the early 1980s Bangladesh started receiving investment in the RMG
sector. Some Bangladeshis received free training from the Korean Company Daewoo. After these workers came back to Bangladesh,
many of them broke ties with the factory they were working for and started their own factories.
The future
The RMG sector is expected to grow despite the global financial crisis of 2009. As China is finding it challenging to make textile
and foot wear items at cheap price, due to rising labor costs, many foreign investors, are coming to Bangladesh to take advantage
of the low labor cost. Local accessories are being made including zippers, buttons, labels, hooks, hangers, elastic bands, thread,
backboards, butterfly pins, clips, collar stays, collarbones and cartons.
The accessory market is dominated by multinational companies operating in Bangladesh, because in the majority of cases,
garment buyers prefer accessories from them over the locally available items.

Sample Program
Sampling is one of the main processes in garment manufacturing and it plays vital role in attracting buyers and confirming the order,
as the buyers generally places the order once satisfied with the quality and responsiveness of the sampling. It is the most crucial and
most important stage of fashion merchandising. Sampling department makes samples on the basis of the specification and
requirement by the buyer. Sampling in merchandising may be defined as "The concept, perception and ideas of fashion designer
developed into product samples, in systematic stages of product development, with technical and quality clarity in a development."
Though sampling is a difficult and time bound process, it will help the exporter to get the order from the buyer. Before placing any
order to the factory, the buyer wants to know whether the factory is capable of producing the styles with the desired quality levels
or not. The samples decide the ability of exporters to deal with any given style of garment. The buyer accesses the capability of
exporter only with the help of Samples. If the samples are of good quality naturally the buyers will be willing to place the order to
factory. Sampling also work as a bridge between the productions and marketing department, hence it has the influence of both
marketing as well as production department. So it is essential that the samples should be innovative and should be manufactured
with optimum quality.

Test the fitting.
This is the first sample which is made for any style by most of the buyer.
Design development is either done by buyer or factory
The main purpose is to take the decision to proceed with the same line or not.

Photo shoot Sample
Purpose:
For conducting the photo session
For uploading the design in the buyers website
For uploading the design in the buyers digital magazine
For conducting fashion show by using physical model
For displaying the selected designs/styles by using dummy in the sales centre
For displaying the designs/styles in the bill board
For attracting the foreign delegates/guest who are joining in the fashion show
For using the designs sales promotion purpose
For using the designs to expand business globally

Mock-up Sample
Any single part of the total garments body. (N.B. It is not mandatory stage of the sample program, it is applicable if buyer needed)

Size set Sample
Purpose:
For getting approval from the buyer style wise, size wise, color wise.
The main purpose of size set sample is to check the factory's capability to make the sample in all sizes.
The size set sample should be made in the actual fabric and trims.
The samples can be made in the sampling room or actual production floor, as required by the buyer.
Bulk cutting of fabric for production should start only after size-set sample get approved.
Normally, 1-2 samples (or quantity specified by buyer) of each size need to send to buyer.
If sizes are more in number then buyer may ask to skip some sizes, called jump size set sample.

P.P Sample/Pre-Production Sample
Purpose:
For getting final approval from the buyer before starting bulk production
It is very important and sensitive stage of the total sample program because it is the last stage before bulk
To check all the previous comments whether the given comments have been maintained at the time of preparing pp sample
or not. If not then revised pp might be needed and have to send to the buyer
In this stage of the sample buyer will see and check style, color, size etc… by following P.O.

Production Sample
Purpose:
For checking actual production status of the order
For checking whether the pp samples comments have been maintained at the time of running production or not
For checking all the previous comments on size set samples & others etc… have been maintained at the time of running production
or not
For checking the produced garments are within AQL or not

Sample quantity: As per buyer requirement

Mass/Bulk Production
Purpose:
For checking the mass/bulk production status of the order
For checking whether the production sample & mass produced sample quality is similar or not
For checking the production samples comments have been maintained at the of mass/bulk production or not
For checking the mass production samples are within AQL or not
Materials: Actual
Sample quantity: As per buyer requirement

Shipping Sample
Purpose:
To get the payment from the buyer.
For checking the shipping status of the order.
For checking whether the produced garments are within AQL (required from the buyer) or not.
For checking folding, packing etc… are within buyers requirements or not.
For getting idea about future business possibility/repeat order.
Materials: Actual
Sample quantity: Minimum one carton
Sample Delivery/ Shipment: After the Shipment done
