Samoila Mârza (1886-1967) was a Romanian photographer known for capturing the only photographs of the Great National Assembly in Alba Iulia on December 1st, 1918, which established the union of Transylvania with Romania. He was born in Galtiu, Alba to Romanian peasant parents and studied photography in Sibiu between 1909-1911. In late 1918, he photographed the sanctification of Romania's first tricolor flag in the presence of General Boeriu and Iuliu Maniu. In early 1919, Mârza published an album of photographs from the Assembly that was presented at the Versailles Peace Conference.
