History
• Saint Agatha was a very beautiful woman,
who lived an died in Catania, Sicily, in the year
251.
She refused to stop being faithful to God and to
marry a rich man. The man got angry and made
her suffer until she died and she became a
Christian martyr.
In the moment that she died there was an
earthquake an the man realized and that his
faith in God was very big and real.
Saint Agatha, Agate deuna in Basque, is celebrated on February 5th the Basque Country.
Lots of people go out singing Saint Agatha’s
song asking for food and money.
In these pictures we can see some

We use traditional Basque clothes and a
stick to hit the floor with it at the rhythm of
the song.
