The City of Houston appealed a judgment awarding damages to Gerald Kallina under the Texas Whistleblower Act. Kallina, a former division manager for the City, conducted an audit that found $400,000 worth of assets were missing from a City warehouse. He reported this to his supervisor, Lathenia Harris. Shortly after, Kallina was fired. The court found that Kallina initiated the grievance process as required and that reporting the missing assets to Harris was sufficient, as she was authorized to regulate and enforce the relevant policies. The court affirmed the judgment in favor of Kallina.
INTRODUCTION
Dislocation of the hip is a common injury to the hip joint. Dislocation occurs when the ball–shaped head of the femur comes out of the cup–shaped acetabulum set in the pelvis. This may happen to a varying degree. A dislocated hip, much more common in females than in males, is a condition that can either be congenital or acquired
Definition
• A dislocation is an injury in which a bone is displaced from its proper position
CLASSIFICATION
The relationship of the femoral head to the acetabulum is used to classify the dislocation. The three main patterns are posterior, anterior, and central.
POSTERIOR HIP DISLOCATION
Posterior dislocations account of more than 90% of dislocations and occur when the knee and hip are flexed and a posterior force is applied at the knee.
Posterior hip dislocations occur typically during MVAs, especially head-on collisions, when the knees of the front-seat occupant strike the dashboard. Energy is transmitted along the femoral shaft to the hip joint. If the leg is struck while in an adducted position, a posterior dislocation may result. If the leg is in neutral or an abducted position when struck, an anterior dislocation or fracture/dislocation may occur. In the latter case, the posterior wall of the acetabulum is fractured, making subsequent reduction less stable.
Several classification systems are used to describe posterior hip dislocations.
• The Thompson-Epstein classification is based on radiographic findings.
o Type 1 – With or without minor fracture
o Type 2 – With large, single fracture of posterior acetabular rim
o Type 3 – With comminution of rim of acetabulum, with or without major fragments
o Type 4 – With fracture of the acetabular floor
o Type 5 – With fracture of the femoral head
• The Steward and Milford classification is based on functional hip stability.
o Type 1 – No fracture or insignificant fracture
o Type 2 – Associated with a single or comminuted posterior wall fragment, but the hip remains stable through a functional range of motion
o Type 3 – Associated with gross instability of the hip joint secondary to loss of structural support
o Type 4 – Associated with femoral head fracture

This document summarizes a pilot study on the effectiveness of homeopathic treatment for alcoholism. The study aimed to test individualized homeopathic treatment, repertorization software, classify alcoholism miasmatically, identify effective medicines, and provide treatment without patient consent. 74 male patients of varying socioeconomic statuses and ages were treated. Nux vomica 1M twice daily proved most effective, relieving 67.56% of cases. The study concluded homeopathy can effectively treat alcoholism without patient consent, with a 67.56% success rate using Nux vomica 1M.

This document from Similiacare.net discusses homeopathic approaches to chronic diseases. It divides chronic diseases into those with fully developed symptoms and few symptoms. Chronic diseases can be miasmatic or non-miasmatic, and miasmatic chronic diseases include psora, sycosis, syphilis, and combinations of these three miasmas. Localized one-sided diseases, pseudo chronic diseases, drug diseases, and occupational diseases are also mentioned.
Acute diseases can be individual, sporadic, or epidemic. Individual diseases attack one person and are transient explosions of latent psora brought on by factors like improper diet, physical stressors like chilling or overheating, or mental emotions. Sporadic diseases affect several people in an area due to meteoric or telluric influences. Epidemic diseases result from the same cause infecting many people at once, often due to large-scale calamities like war or famine.
This study examined the homoeopathic management of Chikungunya fever and related complaints in 532 patients of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds in several towns in Kottayam district, India from June 1 to July 1, 2007. The largest group of patients were between 40-60 years old, making up 39% of cases. The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of homoeopathic treatments for Chikungunya fever and associated symptoms.
A pilot study examined treatment of Chikungunya virus in 532 patients. The age distribution analysis found that 39% of patients were between 40-60 years old, while those between 10-20 and 20-40 each made up around 18-19% of cases. The fewest cases were in patients over 80 years old and those under 10, who comprised 3% and 6% of patients, respectively.

1. The document discusses potassium (K), an essential mineral and electrolyte in the human body. It details K's properties, sources, functions, deficiencies, toxicity, and the Kali group of homeopathic remedies.
2. Potassium is important for muscle function, cell biochemistry, growth, and enzyme activation. Deficiencies can cause fatigue, weakness, and irregular heartbeat, while toxicity raises risks of irregular heartbeat and cardiac arrest.
3. The Kali group remedies are indicated for various pains, discharges, swelling, weakness, and skin conditions. Members include Kali carb, Kali ars, and Kali bich.
The document discusses acute diseases and their treatment in homeopathy. It defines acute diseases as those that are rapid in onset, intense in symptoms, and short to moderate in duration, ending in recovery or death. It classifies acute diseases and discusses how their development and progression is influenced by miasms. It emphasizes that acute diseases are manifestations of chronic miasms. It provides guidelines for prescribing in acute cases, focusing on activity, thermals, thirst, and mentals rather than just physical symptoms, and following the principles of single remedy, minimum dose.
The document provides guidance on case evaluation and analysis to select the most appropriate homeopathic remedy. It discusses the 7 steps to reach the remedy which include case taking, finding the essential totality, sectarian totalities for disease/patient/person, decision on what to treat, selecting the best remedy, potency selection, and withstanding temptations. It also provides tips for effective repertorization and determining miasmatic constitutions to reach the genetic constitutional remedy.
Homoeopathy is presented as the fore runner of modern science by applying principles at the microscopic level. It works based on the concepts of vital force, levels of action, and electropositivity and negativity to cure diseases. Key homoeopathic concepts discussed include drug provings, drug dynamisation, and the principle of similia similibus curentur. The document differentiates the homoeopathic and allopathic approaches and states that modern medicine works at the root/atomic level, like homoeopathy. It provides examples of common homoeopathic remedies.
The document discusses the concept of suppression in homeopathy and how it can occur when the correct simillimum is not found or the cardinal principles are not followed strictly. Suppression occurs when the disease is weakened in one area but ends up strengthening in another, more important system. This happens through the 7 layers of suppression which track the progression of disease from skin to nervous system based on embryological development. Identifying and understanding the layers of suppression is important for homeopaths to avoid suppressive treatments and ensure cure by following Hering's law of cure.
This document discusses the laws and principles of homeopathic posology, which is the study of dosage in homeopathy. It covers the evolution of concepts of minimum dose from Hahnemann's early use of large doses to infinitesimal doses. Guidelines from different homeopaths on potency and dose selection are provided. The preparation, application and repetition of infinitesimal doses are examined. Factors affecting susceptibility and guidelines for potency and dose selection are outlined.
The document discusses miasmatic repertorization in homeopathy, emphasizing the importance of determining the underlying miasm (psora, sycosis, syphilis, tuberculosis) in order to select the most appropriate rubrics and remedy. It provides examples of rubrics and characteristics that indicate each miasm, such as reserved behavior indicating syphilis or loquacity indicating sycosis. Pathological presentations are also discussed as pointers towards the underlying miasm. The goal is to approach cases from a miasmatic perspective to achieve deeper and longer lasting healing.
This document provides a summary of repertory case taking guidelines from Hahnemann's Organon of Medicine aphorisms 83-86. It discusses taking an unbiased individualized case history, arranging symptoms systematically, and eliciting precise details about each symptom such as timing, location, sensations, and aggravating/relieving factors. The document then provides several case examples and rubrics.
This document discusses different types of prescriptions in homeopathy based on etiology, pathology, keynotes, mental symptoms, particulars, miasms, and rubrics related to children. It emphasizes the importance of careful observation in case taking and using the totality of symptoms to select the most similar remedy. Key points include excitng, maintaining and fundamental causes of disease, the value of the patient's constitution, modalities and circumstances. The document encourages unprejudiced observation of all perceptible deviations from health without speculation.

The benefits of an ePCR solution should extend to the whole EMS organization, not just certain groups of people or certain departments. It should provide more than just a form for entering and a database for storing information. It should also include a workflow of how information is communicated, used and stored across the entire organization.
