The Sneak and the peek
Deeply rooted in Indian culture for centuries, X has even found a mention in Hindu
mythology. In the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata, It is said that the Pandava warrior,
Arjuna, mastered X’s skills from Lord Krishna, who adored it. The story goes that
Arjuna would breach enemy walls inconspicuously and would walk back unscathed
with his skills.
Another tale from the Mahabharata involves Arjuna’s son, Abhimanyu, who invaded
the seven-tiered defence - Chakravyuha - of the Kauravas. It is believed that X was
started in memory of the sacriﬁce made by this valiant, young warrior as he fought
against the odds.

Sneak peek and the Goblet of Questions
X was created by British writer/director Gurinder Chadha. There were some
concerns that American audiences wouldn't understand the ﬁlm's title. According to
ESPN, the movie's US title was almost changed to Y ( changing ﬁrst and the fourth
word, thus keeping it similar to X )- a reference to American professional soccer
player Mia Hamm.
But in the end, Chadha pushed for keeping X and she was ultimately successful.
"[It's a] great metaphor for a lot of us, especially girls. We can see our goal but
instead of going straight there, we too have to twist and bend the rules sometimes to
get what we want."

7th August has a particular significance in our country’s history.
It is this date when an individual achieved a feat only for the second time in the 75
year long history of modern India. Truly a golden moment for India, it also served as
an ultimate tribute to X.
X, apart from being a legend in India, is equally celebrated in a neighboring country
for similar reasons. Though X was nowhere related to the field involving the above
mentioned feat but it was one of his creations which was flaunted on 7th August thus
celebrating him on this fateful day.

Randall Champion accidentally touched an electric
line, electrifying himself and stopping his heart. A
fellow lineman, JD Thompson immediately
performed mouth to mouth CPR essentially saving
Champion’s life by acting quickly.

The following is the interview of X with The Hindu on his 87th birthday. (Question in

A majority of your work has been set in the hills. Some of it has been set in other
places like Delhi. Have you ever felt like travelling to an unfamiliar place, perhaps
somewhere in a village in the South, and writing about the people there?
Hopefully in my next life. But you can read my autobiography, Lone Fox Dancing, for
early travels.
Childhood is another recurring theme of your works. The experience of childhood
has changed too in this era of technology and gadgets. What do you make of it?
True, but some things don’t change like friendships, school days, festivals, games,
food and ice-creams.

Since EEE students have been talking about KBC, a question dedicated to their pain.
Charles Ingram was a contestant on the iTV show “Who wants to be a Millionaire”.
After a bad start, everyone doubted he would proceed much further but he
surprised all and reached the jackpot of £1 million.
But as soon as Ingram left the set, the production team noticed that Ingram was
being aided by his wife and a fellow competitor in an unsuspicious way (probably
very suspicious these days) while rewatching the tape. With the set very dimly lit
and both his aids sitting behind him, Ingram went with an auditory tactic.

In a scene from a 2013 episode, titled Politically Inept, featuring Homer
Simpson, a news headline ﬂashed up on screen that read: “Europe puts

The satirical joke implies that Europe would have to raise enough to fund

incident of its kind ran just before the episode was set to air and even led to a delay

2005-06 India-Pakistan tour when he jokingly answer to Musharraf's question about

I told him he was walking near X and we pulled him in."
X is a place in north India and is related to Dhoni’s love for the camouﬂage often seen

one where this ad was shot, it was still deemed too dangerous for them and thus

Lock & Co. is the London's oldest shop and world’s oldest of its kind. Founded in
1676, it has survived wars, economic depressions and now even a global pandemic.
The shop has served many notable customers in the past, but Admiral Lord Nelson,
Winston Churchill and Charlie Chaplin would be the most recognisable with their
product. In 1953, they served Y, their most famous and powerful customer yet when
they worked on a product in conjunction with jewellers Garrard and Co. It was worn
by Y on 2nd June and viewed by over 20 million people worldwide.

Vince Mcmahon and WWE has always tried to cash in on real world incidents and
been able to turn in proﬁts no matter how controversial angles they produced.
In 1990, Sergeant Slaughter made his return to the arena. Slaughter aligned himself
with a kayfabe military general, General Adnan, not for the actual political reasons,
but more for the fact that Slaughter liked "brutality" while the US regime was said by
Slaughter to have become "soft" and "weak".
Mcmahon decided to put Sgt. Slaughter vs Hulk Hogan as the main event of the
Wrestlemania 7 (1991), booking the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum
(capacity-100,000) for the event. They later shifted to a much smaller Sports Arena

there’s no mystery here. The “boys” - Osita Iheme and Chinedu Ikedieze - are the
Nigerian comic-ﬁlm duo.
Don’t be fooled by Iheme and Ikedieze’s size — they’re both grown men (Iheme is 39
and Ikedieze is 43). They’re two of the most sought-after actors in Nigeria for

In EURO 2020, Scotland was meeting England after a long hiatus from the major
