Ruth Benedict was an influential American anthropologist known for her work on cultural relativism. She studied different cultures to understand them based on their own terms and values rather than judging them based on Western standards. Some of her most notable publications included Patterns of Culture and The Chrysanthemum and the Sword, which analyzed Japanese culture. Benedict's work emphasized understanding other cultures in their own context and had a significant impact on furthering acceptance of cultural relativism in anthropology.
