Crowdfunding for the Arts, Cultural and Creative Sectors (Argyll May 2012)Sian Jamieson
Are you constantly looking for the right funding route but coming up empty handed? Are you looking for alternative routes to fund your project that doesn’t rely on public bodies? Would you like to start engaging people with your project now? Crowdfunding could be your answer.
Crowdfunding is a modern, online and interactive way to raise funds directly from the public – or the Crowd – for your projects and activities. With the advent of Crowdfunding we can now turn our audiences into supporters and funders, by collecting multiple small donations online and offering unique incentives to encourage giving, not only can you raise funds to get your project of the ground but you can start to build a ‘buzz’ around it before hand.
The document discusses various fundraising strategies and giving opportunities for Rotary's Annual Fund and Permanent Fund, including traditional and additional annual giving options, online and monthly giving programs, and term and permanent gifts that can be targeted to specific areas of focus, districts, or programs. It emphasizes that every Rotarian is key to fundraising success through leading by example, educating others, asking for contributions, and thanking donors.

3. About Step Up
Step Up (www.vverh.su) is a Moscow-based charity which annually
helps around 100 leavers of special needs orphanages and
children’s homes to overcome the negatives of an instintutionalised
past.
The highly experienced team of teachers and psychologists at Step
Up use education as a tool to help disadvantaged youngsters
successfully integrate within Russian society.
The goal is different for each child but generally falls into one of the
below:
• Teaching basic reading, writing and life skills to help
residents of psychoneurological institutions pass a
committee enabling them to live life independently outside of
an institution
• Boosting the education of special needs orphanage leavers
to a level generally accepted by employers, helping them
determine their own path in life
Whatever the background and personal circumstances of a young
person, at Step Up they receive friendship, care and
encouragement and learn how to be a valued member of society.
Step Up is wholly funded by charitable donations and works with
international organisations such as Linklaters, Clifford Chance,
PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, Nestle, Vitol, Charities Aid
Foundation, Global Fund for Children and Action for Russia’s
Children.
We would like to make the Charity Clay Shoot an annual
fundraising event which will bring in the much needed funding to
firm up our financial foundations in order to prepare us for the next
stage of our development into the Russian regions.
