I am Ruslan Goryukhin, I live in a small house in Rotenberg. I guess
no one has heard about this village, so I will start my story from the
description of this fascinatingplace. Rotenberg village is a part of
Unterturkheim village of the city of Stuttgart. The history of this place
dates back to the 11th century. As for the landmarks of this place, there
is Grave chapel on the Württembergand Local museum
Untertürkheim / Rotenberg.
You probably wonder, why did I Ruslan Goryukhin choose Rotenberg
as a place for living? Well, that’s a good question.As I have already
mentioned, I am a software engineer and I don’t want to live in a
crowded city, so I chose a calm place and bought a house here. There
is everything I need: a high-speed internet connection and a laptop. So
this place is ideal for people like me.
How did I choose the house I live in now? A few years ago, my father
Alex Goryukhin,my brother David Goryukhin and I Ruslan Goryukhin
noticed a house in a small village. That year we were traveling around
Europe and were accidentally passing through Rotenberg. It was love
at first sight.

As you could have noticed it from my family name, I am originally
Russian. I was born on March, 5th, 1989 in Moscow. Two years after
my birth, the Soviet Union collapsed and my family decided to move
to the United States of America. That time the USA appeared to be a

2. country of opportunities. But in fact, it wasn’t. In 2009 I finished high
school.
Initially, I planned to study at UC Berkeley, however,I didn’t enter it,
so I had to study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.Actually, I
liked my student years. I didn’t study hard at the university,I was
fooling around all days instead. That time I didn’t have to think about
the job and other stuff.In 2012 I successfully finishedmy studies and
started lookingfor a job. I didn’t find any appropriate positions which
were somehow related to my major. So I decided to take a gap year
and travel around the world. During that journey, I decided to reside
somewhere in Europe.
It was much easierto find a job in Germany than it was in the USA. I
was never asked about my educational background during the
interviews. Moreover, the software developer job didn’t require me to
attend the office every day, I could work from everywhere. While in
America I was required to spend a lot of hours in the office. However, I
dislike the office environment and find it rather stressful.I hate the
feelingof being watched as if I was in prison.
In Germany, I found the job within three days. I’ve been working at
this company for 6 years already and I am totally satisfied with it. I
have never thought of retirement.
What is inside Ruslan Goryukhin’s house?
I bought this small house in 2014, right after I had joint my current
company. The house wasn’t very expensive, because it is located in
Rotenberg village, an unknown place even for Germans.
My house wasn’t new and it had already been furnishedby the time I
bought it. So it was very easy to know a lot about the lifestyle of the
previous owners. The previous owners of my house are very punctual
people. How did I know it? There are 10! clocks in the house.Being an

3. American I find it annoying so I threw away nine of them and left one
only.
Another habit of Germans that I really appreciate is waste sorting.
There were three thrashers in the house, the first one for plastic
things, the second one for paper, and the third one for food wastes.
Well, I also tried to inculcate this habit in myself,and now I sort the
rubbish without hesitation.
As for the layout of the house, I also like it. It is a well-equipped
modern building with all staff needed for comfortable living. There are
two bedrooms, one living room, a kitchen and a dining room in the
house.Yes, it’s not large, but I live alone and it’s enough for me.
Furthermore, my brother occasionally comes to see me, and he also
lives in my house. So the house is enough large to accommodate two
persons. But the main thing I like about the house is that it’s my
property and I don’t have to rent it.
