MovieFlix Information System
Proper utilization of modern technology can enable your
organization to achieve a good competitive advantage in the
market. Technology solves most of the organization problems
and makes the activities to be conducted effectively and
efficiently. In this paper, I will recommend a technological
system for MovieFlix that will ensure they are operating
effective and it solves most of the problems in the organization.
I will provide the cost for the system and how it will help in
increasing revenue in the organization.
MovieFlix needs a technology system that will enable them
to manage the online activities and other managerial activities
in order to enhance and strategize the opportunities and threats
that are were found in the SWOT analysis. The HubSpot is an
online management system that enables the organization to
manage and strategize most of the activities under one control
unit. The HubSpot management system will enable MovieFlix to
a platform to manage the marketing, sales and customer relation
which one of the core activities of enabling growth and
efficiency within the organization (Jefferson & Tanton, 2013).
This will be a better option for MovieFlix as the opportunity for
growth and expansion rely majorly on the internet platform as
provide in the analysis.
HubSpot will facilitate the international growth and enable the
organization to handle or manage the ethical principles and
other related problems with ease. Due to the proper management
strategy provided by the system, MovieFlix will be able to
provide proper customer services with efficiency leading to
achievement of a good competitive advantaged in the market.
The system initial cost will range from $300 to $1,500 per
month depending on the data growth capacities in the
organization. The system will facilitate or enhance MovieFlix
process as provided by previous analysis the internet or online
market is a major tool that will enable the organization to enter
in to new markets if properly implemented (Steenburgh, Avery
& Dahod, 2009).
HubSpot will enable efficiency and cost effective platform that
will enable the organization to increase its profitability level.
Proper management system as provided by this technology will
enable the organization to provide better online services to the
customer enabling conveniences and proper feedback responses
leading to winning of customer loyalty and attracting new
clients (Jefferson & Tanton, 2013). The system will also
monitor most of the ethical guidelines for the organization
preventing it from negative attacks with lead to development of
a good public image. This will definitely lead to attraction of
new customers hence increase in organization revenues.
On the other hand the system will enable the organization to
utilize fewer workforces hence saving some extra cost of
operation that will directly increase the profitability levels
(Steenburgh, Avery & Dahod, 2009). As a result of the system
being in a position to monitor all services under one platform
provide the organization with a proper opportunity to develop
new potential services that will improve the customer
experiences leading to expansion process as well as increase in
profitability levels (Jefferson & Tanton, 2013). HubSpot will
tend to reduce the operation cost which means that MovieFlix
can adjust their prices fairly for both the competitors and the
customers which is one of the strategies to sustain the cost
leadership concept in the market. The synchronization that the
system will provide with other organization activities will
enable the managers to monitor the activities effectively gather
information that can be used to formulate strategic decision for
MovieFlix.

Business Ethics: MovieFlix

Prepare an essay explaining to the Leadership Team at
MovieFlix why it's important to take an ethical approach to
solving their business problem (the problem that you are
helping them to solve).
MovieFlix should be ethical in handling competition from
NetFlix, Acorn.TV, Fandor, Tubitv.com, Mubi.com and
Crunchyroll.com. The pricing should be where the majority of
video streaming business are located. Ethical pricing demands
that firms cost their goods within reach of the customers.
Willcox (2017) stated that MovieFlix has the monthly price of $
9.95 which is higher than that of Crunchyroll.com and
Mubi.com which charges $ 7 or $ 6. The price charged by
MovieFlix is exploitative. It charges $ 2.95 more than then
Crunchyroll.com. The unscrupulous behavior is unethical and is
a matter of time before subscribers start leaving for their
competitors. MoveFlix should price within a range of $1 where
the majority of players operate. Using the statistics, the monthly
subscription should be within $5 and $ 8.
Make sure to discuss how using good business ethics can
enhance their profitability.
A fair price will ensure that MovieFlix increases their profits
without pushing their rivals out of business. A fair price should
be within $5 and $ 8. According to In Elsdon (2013), the fair
price will increase the competitiveness of the MovieFlix among
other video streaming operators. Customers will move from
NetFlix, Acorn.TV, Fandor, Tubitv.com, Mubi.com and
Crunchyroll.com to try out products by MovieFlix. The many
sales emanate from the increased subscription and streaming
fees MovieFlix gets from affordable pricing. Customers like
appreciating an ethical business. The more customers, the
higher the amount the subscription fees paid. Consequently, the
higher subscribers will translate to higher streaming activities
by the clients. MovieFlix will have utilized sales maximization
profit maximization.
Describe some of the consequences that they could face if they
behave unethically when trying to solve the problem that you've
selected for your project.
MovieFlix can be fined and penalties imposed on the video
streaming operator by the American Justice System (In Elsdon,
2013). Consumer Watchdog Groups may file defense on behalf
of the consumers. The groups may cite the unscrupulous
behavior of MovieFlix price cutting or overcharging the
consumers. The Consumer Watchdog Groups will be agitating
for fair pricing on behalf of the consumer. Where MovieFlix is
found to have been fleecing customers by overcharging or
driving competitors out of business via price cutting. MovieFlix
will be faced with a customer backlash where they feel they are
being overcharged. Customers will decide to use video
streaming by competitors. The customers will result to using
providers who offer cheaper video streaming services.
Customers who previously used MovieFlix will move to
NetFlix, Acorn.TV, Fandor, Tubitv.com, Mubi.com and
Crunchyroll.com.
Discuss how you, as their consultant can help them to take an
ethical approach to solving their problem.
I would ask MovieFlix to review their pricing model from cost
maximization to sales maximization in their urge to achieve
profitability. MovieFlix high price of $ 9.95 is based on cost
maximization. Their profits are based on few sales made from
high prices. Lobato (2012) stated that new customers are
prevented from joining Mov as subscribers, and they sigh in
favor of NetFlix, Acorn.TV, Fandor, Tubitv.com, Mubi.com and
Crunchyroll.com. Sales maximization will require the prices to
be reviewed. MovieFlix should review their prices to be within
the range of Crunchyroll.com and Mubi.com which charges $ 7
or $ 6. The more affordable the business becomes, the more
attractive it will be to consumers. More consumers will mean
more subscription and streaming fees.

What is the problem?
MovieFlix is facing increased competition in the marketplace.
Lobato, Ramon (2012) stated that DVD-by-mail and on-demand
internet streaming media industry where MovieFlix is operating
is attracting more players. The major players are NetFlix,
Acorn.TV, Fandor, Tubitv.com, Mubi.com and
Crunchyroll.com. Other video streaming players Seeso.com,
Pluto.com, Spuul.com, Crackle.com and Shudder.com. The
rivals offer video streaming services on computers, smart
televisions, ROKU, mobiles devices and media players like
Apple TV. Acorn.tv offers services that are charged $ 5 as a
monthly fee. According to Willcox (2017), Mubi.com charges a
monthly fee of $ 6 to its customers. A fee of $ 7 is charged on
Crunchyroll.com on a monthly basis. Fandor is accessed by
paying $10 as the monthly subscription fee. There is a variety
of 40,000 movie or series titles listed on the Tubitv.com. The
other small players are making it hard MovieFlix to operate by
for some offer free content without a subscription.
Why is it a problem for businesses?
The more competitors in the video streaming business, the
lesser sales for MovieFlix (Lobato, 2012). The competitors
share the existing numbers of the video streaming business. The
new rivals acquire a share from the MovieFlix. The reducing
market share means lesser customers will stream and purchase
DVD from MovieFlix. The firm will experience lesser sales
volume for there are alternatives in the market. Given that their
rivals and MovieFlix are offering same content the customers
are considerate of the pricing. The rivals offer lesser pricing
than MovieFlix. The customers of MovieFlix are able to move
to the rivals video streamline services for they are affordable.
Willcox (2017) stated that more traffic is going to NetFlix,
Acorn.TV, Fandor, Tubitv.com, Mubi.com and Crunchyroll.com
than MovieFlix. Due to low pricing, the NetFlix has taken a
third of the streaming video services meaning a third of the
revenues that used to go MovieFlix are no longer going there.
Why does this problem exist or what causes it?
Over time the sales volume of the MovieFlix has been
decreasing. The business has been declining over time. The
difference in pricing of the subscription fees makes it difficult
for MovieFlix to rival others competitively (Lobato, 2012).
MovieFlix charges $ 9.95 to subscribers who will access several
thousand movies and series. According to Willcox (2017), the
competitor's charges to way little funds than MovieFlix,
Acorn.tv and Mubi.com and Crunchyroll.com charges between $
5 and $ 7. Marketing of the MovieFlix services has become
difficult sale to the customers. Given that the streaming videos
presented by the operators are the same the clients look at the
next differentiating thing. The next differentiating aspect is
pricing. There is a $ 2 or 4 dollar difference in monthly
subscription fee between the monthly fee charged by MovieFlix
and its rivals.
What are some of the consequences if the problem goes
unsolved?
If MovieFlix does not address the high subscription fees, it will
be driven out of business by its rivals. In the video streaming
business, all contents are almost similar. Lobato (2012) noted
that The content establishes a similar playing ground meaning
customers will consider other secondary aspects that are used
for product differentiation. What you find in one player in the
industry you have a high probability of finding it among its
players. The customers will move to rival players who are
charging lower prices. The affordable prices make NetFlix,
Acorn.TV, Fandor, Tubitv.com, Mubi.com and Crunchyroll.com
are attractive to subscribe for the video streaming (Willcox,
2017). The customers will not see the need to pay high prices
and they can get the same quantity at a lower price. There will
be the demise of MovieFlix if customers start moving to the
rival firms.

THREATS
Selection content is large
Lacks a good strategic plan
Availability of online markets
Competition is intense
MovieFlix has a good reputation
The management is weak
Possibility of acquiring new markets
Costs are volatile
MovieFlix has a great brand name
MovieFlix’s supply chain is weak
Potential to add new services
Availability of substitute commodities offered by MovieFlix
Has the advantage of a huge market share
The company’s terms of subscription are weak
Likelihood of expansion internationally
MovieFlix has several strengths which include; having a
large selection content. This means that the company has many
products in which their clients can choose from hence has an
advantage over other companies in the market. In addition, the
company also has a good reputation which is essential in
securing a large market for their product. Another strength the
company possesses is a huge market share. This advantage
allows the company to have more sales than other companies in
the market. This strength means that people used the company’s
product more as compared to products offered by other
companies, as a result, the company has the potential to
increase its market size. Another strength is that the MovieFlix
has a good brand name for their product. Having a good brand
name is crucial especially while marketing a product hence
utilizing this strength in increasing the companies market could
result in greater profits. MovieFlix also has its share of
weaknesses. These weaknesses include; lacking a proper
strategic plan. Any company without a proper strategic plan on
how to manage, market and sell its product stand a risk of
getting low profits. Hence having a proper strategic plan is
crucial to MovieFlix. Another weakness the existence of a weak
management system. The company’s management system should
be strategically formed to ensure that all staff members in the
company work efficient towards the best interests of the
company. A strong management system also has elaborate
communication systems with which the staff can air their views
and woes about the company and get fast feedbacks (Smit,
1999). Another weakness is that the company has a weak supply
chain. This weakness can result in a significant decrease in
income and profit. A weak supply chain does not ensure proper
distribution of products to all company’s client. Failure in
supply products to clients could result in loss of client hence a
decrease in income.
On the other hand, the company also has a number
of opportunities. These opportunities include the availability of
an online market. Online markets are very crucial since the can
significantly increase the company’s revenue. This is because in
online marketing client does not have to go to a MovieFlix’s
shop; instead, they can shop from their homes or anywhere they
are through just ordering the product they want and having it
delivered to a convenient location to them. The online market
also gives clients a variety of products to choose from since all
products will be displayed online which is not the case for
shops since a particular shop can lack some products. Another
opportunity is the potential to secure new markets. With the
good reputation and brand name that MovieFlix has it has a high
potential to broaden its markets. Through increasing the size of
the company’s market, the company’s income will also increase
significantly. However, getting new markets means that the
company will have to increase the products its products and
have a more elaborate supply chain so as to satisfy both old and
new clients. Another opportunity is the potential to add new
services. The addition of new services increases the chances of
the company to attract more clients. For instance, offering
proper packaging and delivering services for products purchased
can lead to increased interest in working with the company
hence resulting in the increase in the company’s income.
Another opportunity is the likelihood to expand internationally.
MovieFlix has a chance to expand internationally especially if it
adopts the online marketing which would make it easy for the
company to broaden its branches to the international level.
MovieFlix also faces external threats. These threats include
intense competition from other companies. The existence of
other companies sharing the market with MovieFlix poses a
huge threat to the company hence the company should maintain
its goodwill and high-quality services to client failure to which
they will move to other companies. Another threat is the
volatile costs. These possess a huge threat since MovieFlix the
company has to critically plan for situations where the cost of
products might skyrocket. In the process of planning great
caution should be taken since poor planning can cause delays
which will, in turn, affect the company negatively. Another
threat is the availability of substitute goods. MovieFlix’s
competition offers the market substitute goods hence posing a
threat of taking up market control.
Strategic Planning
The main problem in MovieFlix is the problem of
competition. To come up with solutions for this challenge the
management first needs to rebuild its system or make certain
efforts to make their management system stronger. First, I
would recommend that all employees and managers in the
company first go through a two-day training. The training will
be to reminder all the staff on the vision and objective of the
company. Also, they will be given motivation talks on how to
strengthen their management system through the establishment
of an elaborate chain of command. Putting up a good
communication system is also a key strategy in that will
strengthen the management system since it will allow for fast
feedback hence reaction on certain issues will be fast (Schein,
Dyer, Dyer & Dyer, 2013). The communication system will also
cater for clients through responding to their inquiries.
On the issue of regarding competition, the company
will have to design or add an intelligence department which will
be responsible for identifying the market parameters hence
enabling the company to analyze by the market and their
competition (Abraham, 2012). The department will gather
information which will be analyzed hence enabling rational
decisions to be made. The understanding of how a market
operates is essential to any business; it enables a company to be
able to make projections that will spearhead the company’s
dealings in the market (Langabeer & Napiewocki, 2000). For
instance, MovieFlix should try to understand what their
competitor’s objective are and what strategies they are using to
draw clients in the market. After this, they should find out what
clients preferences. Finally, with this information, MovieFlix
will be able to be able to provide customers with their wants in
a better way than their competition. Also, MovieFlix should
also try and maintain the client it already has as it tries to get
new ones through being in constant communication with them
through notifying them when new products arrive.
Exploring new opportunities is also a strategy to remain
competitive in the market. For instance, MovieFlix should
introduce online marketing and ensure that their clients know
how to utilize this service through offering training session all
around their market area. Online market will be more
convenient and more reliable since clients will have a variety of
product to choose from which may not be the case in store or
shop systems. Online marketing also offers packaging and
delivery services which are additional services hence may result
in an increase in clients. Through these strategies of being more
competitive in the market, client getting services from
MovieFlix may significantly increase hence the company should
be ready to handle the situation. This can be done by increasing
production and improving their supply chains to suit the
increase in clients.
Team Building
As the company’s consultant, I would urge managers
and team leaders in MovieFlix to be cautious about the
unspoken feelings of the employees. This can be done by
avoiding things that can demoralize employees. Team building
requires a leader to be more open and free with employees and
also ensure that they are sensitive to the moods of the team
(Dyer, Dyer & Dyer, 2013). This creates a more comfortable
environment where employees feel free to go about their
activities without fear of their leaders. The ideas of employees
should also be considered as valuable since all ideas are viable
irrespective of the whole is airing them, this also plays a major
role in team building.
The delegation also plays a significant role in team
building. When a manager delegates the task of solving a
certain problem in the company, he/she give the team an
opportunity to work together and brainstorm to come up with
solutions for the problem at hand. The act of employees coming
together and working with a goal of solving a problem increases
the spirit of togetherness. Also to ensure team building,
employees should be encouraged to share information with each
other. As a consultant, I would emphasize that it is crucial that
every member contributes adequately and also demonstrate to
each other how tasks are handled and jobs operate since this
will significantly move the entire team nearer to its goal. As a
consultant, I would also ensure that communication in the
company is facilitated since it is the most crucial thing in every
successful teamwork. Through facilitating communication, I
will make sure that every company is open to any concern,
suggestion or question that may arise and also emphasize the
need to offer help to individuals that may need it.

Running head INFORMATION SYSTEM 1INFORMATION SYSTEM5.docx

  • 1. Running head: INFORMATION SYSTEM 1 INFORMATION SYSTEM 5 MovieFlix Information System Student’s Name University MovieFlix Information System Proper utilization of modern technology can enable your organization to achieve a good competitive advantage in the market. Technology solves most of the organization problems and makes the activities to be conducted effectively and efficiently. In this paper, I will recommend a technological system for MovieFlix that will ensure they are operating effective and it solves most of the problems in the organization. I will provide the cost for the system and how it will help in increasing revenue in the organization. MovieFlix needs a technology system that will enable them to manage the online activities and other managerial activities in order to enhance and strategize the opportunities and threats that are were found in the SWOT analysis. The HubSpot is an online management system that enables the organization to manage and strategize most of the activities under one control unit. The HubSpot management system will enable MovieFlix to a platform to manage the marketing, sales and customer relation which one of the core activities of enabling growth and
  • 2. efficiency within the organization (Jefferson & Tanton, 2013). This will be a better option for MovieFlix as the opportunity for growth and expansion rely majorly on the internet platform as provide in the analysis. HubSpot will facilitate the international growth and enable the organization to handle or manage the ethical principles and other related problems with ease. Due to the proper management strategy provided by the system, MovieFlix will be able to provide proper customer services with efficiency leading to achievement of a good competitive advantaged in the market. The system initial cost will range from $300 to $1,500 per month depending on the data growth capacities in the organization. The system will facilitate or enhance MovieFlix process as provided by previous analysis the internet or online market is a major tool that will enable the organization to enter in to new markets if properly implemented (Steenburgh, Avery & Dahod, 2009). HubSpot will enable efficiency and cost effective platform that will enable the organization to increase its profitability level. Proper management system as provided by this technology will enable the organization to provide better online services to the customer enabling conveniences and proper feedback responses leading to winning of customer loyalty and attracting new clients (Jefferson & Tanton, 2013). The system will also monitor most of the ethical guidelines for the organization preventing it from negative attacks with lead to development of a good public image. This will definitely lead to attraction of new customers hence increase in organization revenues. On the other hand the system will enable the organization to utilize fewer workforces hence saving some extra cost of operation that will directly increase the profitability levels (Steenburgh, Avery & Dahod, 2009). As a result of the system
  • 3. being in a position to monitor all services under one platform provide the organization with a proper opportunity to develop new potential services that will improve the customer experiences leading to expansion process as well as increase in profitability levels (Jefferson & Tanton, 2013). HubSpot will tend to reduce the operation cost which means that MovieFlix can adjust their prices fairly for both the competitors and the customers which is one of the strategies to sustain the cost leadership concept in the market. The synchronization that the system will provide with other organization activities will enable the managers to monitor the activities effectively gather information that can be used to formulate strategic decision for MovieFlix. References Jefferson, S., & Tanton, S. (2013). Valuable content marketing: How to make quality content the key to your business success. Kogan Page Publishers. Steenburgh, T. J., Avery, J., & Dahod, N. (2009). HubSpot: Inbound Marketing and Web 2.0. Unit VI Article Critique Your task is to offer a detailed critique of a peer-reviewed article, which you can locate in the CSU Online Library. The article must be related to international marketing. In your critique, address the following questions: to the lesson in this unit? (Some examples include the marketing mix, marketing orientation, and organizational structure.) The critique should be a minimum of two pages in length in APA style; however, a title page, a running head, and an abstract are not required. Be sure to cite and reference all quoted or paraphrased material appropriately in APA style.
  • 4. Running Head: BUSINESS ETHICS 1 BUSINESS ETHICS 2 Business Ethics: MovieFlix (Name) (University) Prepare an essay explaining to the Leadership Team at MovieFlix why it's important to take an ethical approach to solving their business problem (the problem that you are helping them to solve). MovieFlix should be ethical in handling competition from NetFlix, Acorn.TV, Fandor, Tubitv.com, Mubi.com and Crunchyroll.com. The pricing should be where the majority of
  • 5. video streaming business are located. Ethical pricing demands that firms cost their goods within reach of the customers. Willcox (2017) stated that MovieFlix has the monthly price of $ 9.95 which is higher than that of Crunchyroll.com and Mubi.com which charges $ 7 or $ 6. The price charged by MovieFlix is exploitative. It charges $ 2.95 more than then Crunchyroll.com. The unscrupulous behavior is unethical and is a matter of time before subscribers start leaving for their competitors. MoveFlix should price within a range of $1 where the majority of players operate. Using the statistics, the monthly subscription should be within $5 and $ 8. Make sure to discuss how using good business ethics can enhance their profitability. A fair price will ensure that MovieFlix increases their profits without pushing their rivals out of business. A fair price should be within $5 and $ 8. According to In Elsdon (2013), the fair price will increase the competitiveness of the MovieFlix among other video streaming operators. Customers will move from NetFlix, Acorn.TV, Fandor, Tubitv.com, Mubi.com and Crunchyroll.com to try out products by MovieFlix. The many sales emanate from the increased subscription and streaming fees MovieFlix gets from affordable pricing. Customers like appreciating an ethical business. The more customers, the higher the amount the subscription fees paid. Consequently, the higher subscribers will translate to higher streaming activities by the clients. MovieFlix will have utilized sales maximization profit maximization. Describe some of the consequences that they could face if they behave unethically when trying to solve the problem that you've selected for your project. MovieFlix can be fined and penalties imposed on the video streaming operator by the American Justice System (In Elsdon, 2013). Consumer Watchdog Groups may file defense on behalf of the consumers. The groups may cite the unscrupulous behavior of MovieFlix price cutting or overcharging the consumers. The Consumer Watchdog Groups will be agitating
  • 6. for fair pricing on behalf of the consumer. Where MovieFlix is found to have been fleecing customers by overcharging or driving competitors out of business via price cutting. MovieFlix will be faced with a customer backlash where they feel they are being overcharged. Customers will decide to use video streaming by competitors. The customers will result to using providers who offer cheaper video streaming services. Customers who previously used MovieFlix will move to NetFlix, Acorn.TV, Fandor, Tubitv.com, Mubi.com and Crunchyroll.com. Discuss how you, as their consultant can help them to take an ethical approach to solving their problem. I would ask MovieFlix to review their pricing model from cost maximization to sales maximization in their urge to achieve profitability. MovieFlix high price of $ 9.95 is based on cost maximization. Their profits are based on few sales made from high prices. Lobato (2012) stated that new customers are prevented from joining Mov as subscribers, and they sigh in favor of NetFlix, Acorn.TV, Fandor, Tubitv.com, Mubi.com and Crunchyroll.com. Sales maximization will require the prices to be reviewed. MovieFlix should review their prices to be within the range of Crunchyroll.com and Mubi.com which charges $ 7 or $ 6. The more affordable the business becomes, the more attractive it will be to consumers. More consumers will mean more subscription and streaming fees. References In Elsdon, R. (2013). • 9. MovieFlix (Name) (University) What is the problem? MovieFlix is facing increased competition in the marketplace. Lobato, Ramon (2012) stated that DVD-by-mail and on-demand internet streaming media industry where MovieFlix is operating is attracting more players. The major players are NetFlix, Acorn.TV, Fandor, Tubitv.com, Mubi.com and Crunchyroll.com. Other video streaming players Seeso.com, Pluto.com, Spuul.com, Crackle.com and Shudder.com. The rivals offer video streaming services on computers, smart televisions, ROKU, mobiles devices and media players like Apple TV. Acorn.tv offers services that are charged $ 5 as a monthly fee. According to Willcox (2017), Mubi.com charges a monthly fee of $ 6 to its customers. A fee of $ 7 is charged on Crunchyroll.com on a monthly basis. Fandor is accessed by paying $10 as the monthly subscription fee. There is a variety of 40,000 movie or series titles listed on the Tubitv.com. The other small players are making it hard MovieFlix to operate by for some offer free content without a subscription. Why is it a problem for businesses? The more competitors in the video streaming business, the
  • 10. lesser sales for MovieFlix (Lobato, 2012). The competitors share the existing numbers of the video streaming business. The new rivals acquire a share from the MovieFlix. The reducing market share means lesser customers will stream and purchase DVD from MovieFlix. The firm will experience lesser sales volume for there are alternatives in the market. Given that their rivals and MovieFlix are offering same content the customers are considerate of the pricing. The rivals offer lesser pricing than MovieFlix. The customers of MovieFlix are able to move to the rivals video streamline services for they are affordable. Willcox (2017) stated that more traffic is going to NetFlix, Acorn.TV, Fandor, Tubitv.com, Mubi.com and Crunchyroll.com than MovieFlix. Due to low pricing, the NetFlix has taken a third of the streaming video services meaning a third of the revenues that used to go MovieFlix are no longer going there. Why does this problem exist or what causes it? Over time the sales volume of the MovieFlix has been decreasing. The business has been declining over time. The difference in pricing of the subscription fees makes it difficult for MovieFlix to rival others competitively (Lobato, 2012). MovieFlix charges $ 9.95 to subscribers who will access several thousand movies and series. According to Willcox (2017), the competitor's charges to way little funds than MovieFlix, Acorn.tv and Mubi.com and Crunchyroll.com charges between $ 5 and $ 7. Marketing of the MovieFlix services has become difficult sale to the customers. Given that the streaming videos presented by the operators are the same the clients look at the next differentiating thing. The next differentiating aspect is pricing. There is a $ 2 or 4 dollar difference in monthly subscription fee between the monthly fee charged by MovieFlix and its rivals. What are some of the consequences if the problem goes unsolved? If MovieFlix does not address the high subscription fees, it will be driven out of business by its rivals. In the video streaming business, all contents are almost similar. Lobato (2012) noted
  • 11. that The content establishes a similar playing ground meaning customers will consider other secondary aspects that are used for product differentiation. What you find in one player in the industry you have a high probability of finding it among its players. The customers will move to rival players who are charging lower prices. The affordable prices make NetFlix, Acorn.TV, Fandor, Tubitv.com, Mubi.com and Crunchyroll.com are attractive to subscribe for the video streaming (Willcox, 2017). The customers will not see the need to pay high prices and they can get the same quantity at a lower price. There will be the demise of MovieFlix if customers start moving to the rival firms. • 14. SWOT Analysis Table for MovieFlix STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES OPPORTUNITIES THREATS Selection content is large Lacks a good strategic plan Availability of online markets Competition is intense MovieFlix has a good reputation The management is weak Possibility of acquiring new markets Costs are volatile MovieFlix has a great brand name MovieFlix’s supply chain is weak Potential to add new services Availability of substitute commodities offered by MovieFlix Has the advantage of a huge market share The company’s terms of subscription are weak Likelihood of expansion internationally MovieFlix has several strengths which include; having a large selection content. This means that the company has many products in which their clients can choose from hence has an advantage over other companies in the market. In addition, the company also has a good reputation which is essential in securing a large market for their product. Another strength the company possesses is a huge market share. This advantage allows the company to have more sales than other companies in the market. This strength means that people used the company’s product more as compared to products offered by other companies, as a result, the company has the potential to increase its market size. Another strength is that the MovieFlix has a good brand name for their product. Having a good brand name is crucial especially while marketing a product hence
  • 15. utilizing this strength in increasing the companies market could result in greater profits. MovieFlix also has its share of weaknesses. These weaknesses include; lacking a proper strategic plan. Any company without a proper strategic plan on how to manage, market and sell its product stand a risk of getting low profits. Hence having a proper strategic plan is crucial to MovieFlix. Another weakness the existence of a weak management system. The company’s management system should be strategically formed to ensure that all staff members in the company work efficient towards the best interests of the company. A strong management system also has elaborate communication systems with which the staff can air their views and woes about the company and get fast feedbacks (Smit, 1999). Another weakness is that the company has a weak supply chain. This weakness can result in a significant decrease in income and profit. A weak supply chain does not ensure proper distribution of products to all company’s client. Failure in supply products to clients could result in loss of client hence a decrease in income. On the other hand, the company also has a number of opportunities. These opportunities include the availability of an online market. Online markets are very crucial since the can significantly increase the company’s revenue. This is because in online marketing client does not have to go to a MovieFlix’s shop; instead, they can shop from their homes or anywhere they are through just ordering the product they want and having it delivered to a convenient location to them. The online market also gives clients a variety of products to choose from since all products will be displayed online which is not the case for shops since a particular shop can lack some products. Another opportunity is the potential to secure new markets. With the good reputation and brand name that MovieFlix has it has a high potential to broaden its markets. Through increasing the size of the company’s market, the company’s income will also increase significantly. However, getting new markets means that the
  • 16. company will have to increase the products its products and have a more elaborate supply chain so as to satisfy both old and new clients. Another opportunity is the potential to add new services. The addition of new services increases the chances of the company to attract more clients. For instance, offering proper packaging and delivering services for products purchased can lead to increased interest in working with the company hence resulting in the increase in the company’s income. Another opportunity is the likelihood to expand internationally. MovieFlix has a chance to expand internationally especially if it adopts the online marketing which would make it easy for the company to broaden its branches to the international level. MovieFlix also faces external threats. These threats include intense competition from other companies. The existence of other companies sharing the market with MovieFlix poses a huge threat to the company hence the company should maintain its goodwill and high-quality services to client failure to which they will move to other companies. Another threat is the volatile costs. These possess a huge threat since MovieFlix the company has to critically plan for situations where the cost of products might skyrocket. In the process of planning great caution should be taken since poor planning can cause delays which will, in turn, affect the company negatively. Another threat is the availability of substitute goods. MovieFlix’s competition offers the market substitute goods hence posing a threat of taking up market control. Strategic Planning The main problem in MovieFlix is the problem of competition. To come up with solutions for this challenge the management first needs to rebuild its system or make certain efforts to make their management system stronger. First, I would recommend that all employees and managers in the company first go through a two-day training. The training will be to reminder all the staff on the vision and objective of the
  • 17. company. Also, they will be given motivation talks on how to strengthen their management system through the establishment of an elaborate chain of command. Putting up a good communication system is also a key strategy in that will strengthen the management system since it will allow for fast feedback hence reaction on certain issues will be fast (Schein, Dyer, Dyer & Dyer, 2013). The communication system will also cater for clients through responding to their inquiries. On the issue of regarding competition, the company will have to design or add an intelligence department which will be responsible for identifying the market parameters hence enabling the company to analyze by the market and their competition (Abraham, 2012). The department will gather information which will be analyzed hence enabling rational decisions to be made. The understanding of how a market operates is essential to any business; it enables a company to be able to make projections that will spearhead the company’s dealings in the market (Langabeer & Napiewocki, 2000). For instance, MovieFlix should try to understand what their competitor’s objective are and what strategies they are using to draw clients in the market. After this, they should find out what clients preferences. Finally, with this information, MovieFlix will be able to be able to provide customers with their wants in a better way than their competition. Also, MovieFlix should also try and maintain the client it already has as it tries to get new ones through being in constant communication with them through notifying them when new products arrive. Exploring new opportunities is also a strategy to remain competitive in the market. For instance, MovieFlix should introduce online marketing and ensure that their clients know how to utilize this service through offering training session all around their market area. Online market will be more convenient and more reliable since clients will have a variety of product to choose from which may not be the case in store or
  • 18. shop systems. Online marketing also offers packaging and delivery services which are additional services hence may result in an increase in clients. Through these strategies of being more competitive in the market, client getting services from MovieFlix may significantly increase hence the company should be ready to handle the situation. This can be done by increasing production and improving their supply chains to suit the increase in clients. Team Building As the company’s consultant, I would urge managers and team leaders in MovieFlix to be cautious about the unspoken feelings of the employees. This can be done by avoiding things that can demoralize employees. Team building requires a leader to be more open and free with employees and also ensure that they are sensitive to the moods of the team (Dyer, Dyer & Dyer, 2013). This creates a more comfortable environment where employees feel free to go about their activities without fear of their leaders. The ideas of employees should also be considered as valuable since all ideas are viable irrespective of the whole is airing them, this also plays a major role in team building. The delegation also plays a significant role in team building. When a manager delegates the task of solving a certain problem in the company, he/she give the team an opportunity to work together and brainstorm to come up with solutions for the problem at hand. The act of employees coming together and working with a goal of solving a problem increases the spirit of togetherness. Also to ensure team building, employees should be encouraged to share information with each other. As a consultant, I would emphasize that it is crucial that every member contributes adequately and also demonstrate to each other how tasks are handled and jobs operate since this will significantly move the entire team nearer to its goal. As a

Through facilitating communication, I will make sure that every company is open to any concern, suggestion or question that may arise and also emphasize the need to offer help to individuals that may need it.
