RugbyTel was founded in 2012 by ex-rugby players and supporters to create sustainable revenue streams for rugby clubs after many clubs became insolvent due to reliance on temporary funding sources. RugbyTel partners with businesses associated with rugby clubs to provide communications services and splits the profits between the clubs and charities to provide ongoing monthly funding. The model has been successful, with one client saving over £4,700 annually on services and donating over £7,000 to their local rugby club. RugbyTel aims to expand this model to other sports to help more amateur sports organizations.
