1. Silvia Žele
My name is Silvia Žele and I am an Australian secondary school teacher who is
living and working in Slovenia. I am hoping that this project will provide a
platform for my students and I to learn about other EU countries and teach
others something about the beautiful things that exist in Slovenia.
One of my favourite things in Slovenia is that many people hike up hills and
mountains as a regular part of their lives. I mainly enjoy the hills and the small
mountains, but was proud to have made it to the top of Mount Triglav in 2012.
Triglav is so important to the nation that it is even symbolized on the country’s
flag. Triglav means three heads and you can see the highest peak to the left of
the photo.
On the peak, there is Aljaž’s Tower and it is important for those people who
make it to the top to have their photo taken in front of the tower as proof that
they made it there.
