Romanticism was an artistic movement from 1800-1840 that originated in France and Britain as a reaction against Enlightenment ideals and Neoclassical styles. Key aspects of Romanticism included a focus on emotion, imagination, nature, and nationalism. Important Romantic artists included J.M.W. Turner, Francisco de Goya, Caspar David Friedrich, Eugene Delacroix, and John Constable.
