SAP TechEd 2016 Barcelona TEC123 Session PresentationCore To Edge
Very first SAP HANA adaptations in Turkey started with some pilot sidecar scenarios for SAP BW, continued with few SAP BW on HANA and SAP BPC on HANA projects as a new implementation. Some large enterprises decided to move to SAP BW on HANA from their classical SAP BW environment in recent years. All new SAP implementations mostly starts with SAP HANA and SAP ASE (Critial and core systems on HANA, rest on ASE). And also we now started to hear that some customers started to move to SAP Suite on HANA.
But what we’ve achieved is still the 1st (and will always be) and sole in Turkey.
Last year, we’ve migrated EVE Shop‘s SAP ERP systems running on SAP HANA to SAP’s new generation business suite SAP S/4HANA in 3 months.

When first designing industrial automation projects, it’s easy to make some common mistakes that can make integrating harder than it needs to be and cause headaches down the road. The best way to set yourself up for success is to recognize best practices as soon as possible. Not only does this save time on rework and future development, but it also allows for more predictability, better organization, and increased functionality.

Denver MuleSoft Meetup: Approve this! (or reject this!) with MuleSoft and SlackBig Compass
There are many business processes that require application of dynamic business rules and manual approval steps. Traditionally, in order to implement these use cases, you needed the following software components:
• Heavyweight business process engine
• Rules engine
• Human workflow engine
Let’s be honest. There may be some complex outliers, but overall, this solution is excessive and expensive to maintain. There has to be a better way that meets business needs using tools that my business users are already using.
Well, there is.
We will discuss how to implement these use cases using platforms you already have: MuleSoft and Slack.
We’ll also discuss how the implementation leverages your API-led connectivity methodology. Specifically, we’ll cover the following details:
• How to add human approvals to your API ecosystem
• How to implement some common Human Workflow solutions using MuleSoft and Slack
• How to maintain a business rules solution using Slack
If you don’t use Slack, that’s OK, we’ll discuss how API-led connectivity lets you replace Slack with your corporate business communication platform such as Microsoft Teams or Google Chat/Spaces.
After this meetup, you’ll have a better understanding on how to leverage MuleSoft for use cases that typically might not be recognized as traditional MuleSoft use cases. Furthermore, you’ll reconnect with other Muleys that are based in Colorado!
As always, our in-person meetup has trivia questions that give you the chance to win some SWAG and a MuleSoft training voucher. Of course, we’ll supply hors d'oeuvres and libations.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Troubleshooting
Layer attribute searches fail if they contain search columns whose data type
is date, map provider is ArcGIS Server, and data source is GDB, MDB or
DBF
Layer attribute searches containing search columns whose data type is Date can fail where the
map provider is ArcGIS Server and the data source is any of these:
• Personal geodatabase
• File geodatabase
• Shape files
Workaround
1. In the OnPoint Administration Console, select the Searches node.
2. Double-click the search.
3. In the Edit Layer Attribute Search window, select the Ignore SQL Validation option.
Printing map series (Cartographic Print Map Series SOAP print template)
with the Current extents or Entire index layer options results in timeout
The timeout parameters below should be in synch to avoid timeout exceptions and to get
better performance in map series generation.
• “httpRuntime executionTimeout—Cartographic Print Web Service” on page 10
• “OnPointMapSeriesPrintingTasks service timeouts—ArcGIS Server” on page 11
• “SOAP API connection parameters and performance considerations for CartoPrint and
ArcGIS Server 10.1” on page 13
httpRuntime executionTimeout—Cartographic Print Web Service
Default value = 600 seconds
Increase or modify this parameter to synch-up with the OnPointMapSeriesPrintingTasks
geoprocessing printing service timeouts in ArcGIS server.
11. 11Rolta OnPoint 7.5 Release Notes
This timeout occurs if some information is requested (by the CartoPrint tools on ArcMAP or
OnPoint) from the server, but ArcGIS Server takes too long to respond. Information
requested could be such things as what geoprocessing services are available, determining what
features should be included in a print request chunk, or a print request itself. Crossing this
timeout will sometimes cancel the print request.
1. On the computer running the Cartographic Print Web Service, locate the web.config for
this web service, and open it in an XML editor.
2. Locate the executionTimout parameter and set it to value that is sufficient for print series
generation and that is in line with the OnPointMapSeriesPrintingTasks geoprocessing
printing service timeouts in ArcGIS server. See the other timeout parameters below.
OnPointMapSeriesPrintingTasks service timeouts—ArcGIS Server
1. Open ArcCatalog, and in the Catalog Tree pane to the left, expand the GIS Servers node.
2. Expand the node for a GIS Server where you have published the OnPointMapSeriesPrin-
tingTasks geoprocessing printing service.

Parameter Description
Status Check Start Delay Default value = 3 seconds
This is the number of seconds after a map has been
requested that OnPoint starts to poll ArcGIS Server
for status checks.
Status Check Interval OnPoint polls ArcGIS Server on the status of pend-
ing map requests every second by default.
• If the map requested is complex or if a map
series is requested (which contains data-driven
pages), it will take longer for ArcGIS Server to
process. If the interval is not long enough, a
response from ArcGIS Server may be missed
and a map request failure will be reported.
• In case of repeated map request failures, try
increasing Status Check Interval or Status
Check Max. Count or both.
Status Check Max.
Count
Default value = 20
OnPoint polls ArcGIS Server for map request status
for the maximum number of times you define here.
• If the map requested is complex or if a map
series is requested (which contains data-driven
pages), it will take longer for ArcGIS Server to
process. If the maximum number of polling
attempts defined here is not high enough, a
response from ArcGIS Server may be missed,
and a map request failure will be reported.
• In case of repeated map request failures, try
increasing Status Check Interval or Status
Check Max. Count or both.
