4. Media Center Entrance
● Upon entering the
school, the media
center is directly
ahead but the main
entrance is on the
side hallway. This
makes it evenly and
easily accessible to
all classes on two
long halls.

● The media center
parapro does the
majority of the checkouts.
● She often stays late in
the afternoons reshelving returned
books
7. Office of the Media Specialist
Behind the windows is
the office of the media
specialist. Every other
week, the technology
person for the school
also works from this
office.

● This is the area where the ms conducts classes daily
and the principal holds weekly faculty meetings.
● Reference books are located on the shelves behind the
seating area and student work is displayed.
● There is also an exit door here which is usually locked
from the outside since it is not the main entrance.

the ms holds classes.

that can be put to great
use and not cause clutter
in the media center.

11. Non-Fiction Books
Guided Reading Books
● This corner of the mc (in picture 1) has chairs randomly
spread out near the non-fiction book shelves. The chairs
are only used when there is a faculty meeting.
● In picture 2, the wall shelf consists of guided reading
books and a few books on tape.

● The media specialist spends a great deal of time
reading stories to K through 2nd grade classes.
● The entrance is wheel chair accessible.

their classmates to

20. Revised MC Floor Plan
● Overall, more technology was included in the
media center to make it an inviting space for
patrons.
● More computers were added to be used for
internet use and not only to search for library
books and taking AR tests.
● More inviting student- friendly chairs and a round
table were added at the entrance.

stored below for ESOL and other student use.
Books on tape can also be utilized here.
● An oval shaped table was added between the
sofas for convenience.
● Shelves were shifted to make room for the
additional computers.

-The media center requires and has a full-time
media specialist and a full-time parapro
-The media center is a wheelchair accessible
facility but lacks the necessary accommodations
for other disabilities represented in the school
-The media center sq footage is equivalent to
approximately 3,825 for nearly 847 students and
therefore meets the sq footage requirements
