A robot is an electro-mechanical machine that is guided by a computer program to perform tasks. There are several types of robots including mobile robots that can move in their environment, industrial robots used for manufacturing tasks, service robots that assist with household chores, modular robots composed of interchangeable parts, and collaborative robots that safely interact with humans in industrial settings.
2. Introduction
A robot is a mechanical or
virtual agent, usually
an electro-mechanical
machine that is guided by
a computer
program or electronic
circuitry
Robotics is the branch
of technology that deals with
the
design, construction, operati
on, and application of robots
5. Mobile robots
A mobile robot is an automatic machine that is
capable of movement in any given environment.
Mobile robots have the capability to move around in
their environment and are not fixed to one physical
location
Mobile robots are also found in industry, military and
security environments. Domestic robots are consumer
products, includingentertainment robots
7. Industrial robots
An industrial robot is defined
by ISO as
an automatically controlled, repro
grammable, multipurpose
manipulator programmable in
three or more axes
Typical applications of robots
include welding, painting, assembl
y, pick and place (such
as packaging, palletizing and SMT),
product inspection, and testing; all
accomplished with high
endurance, speed, and precision.
9. Service robots
A service robot is a robot which operates semi- or fully autonomously
to perform services useful to the well-being of humans and equipment
They typically are autonomous and/or operated by a build in control
system, with manual override options
Service robots assist human beings, typically by performing a job that is
dirty, dull, distant, dangerous or repetitive, including household chores
11. Modular r0bots
These robots are composed of a single type of
identical, several different identical module types, or
similarly shaped modules
The functionality and effectiveness of a modular robot is
easier to increase compared to conventional robot
Modular robots are a new breed of robots that are designed
to increase the utilization of the robots by modularizing the
robots
13. Collaborative robots
A collaborative
robot or Cobot is a
robot that can safely
and effectively
interact with human
workers in
performance of
simple industrial
tasks.
The collaborative
robots most widely
used in industries
today are
manufactured
by Universal
Robots in Denmark.
The ushers are a new
breed of collaborative
robots being
integrated with
humans in real-world
manufacturing
settings, free of many
of the safety
constraints required
in the past. No more
separation between
man and robot.
