3. what is a robot…?
A re – programmable , multifunctional , automatic
industrial machine designed to replace human in
hazardous work.
It can be used as:-
• An automatic machine sweeper.
• in space
• in military,
• works as a machine to remove mines.
• can help in daily chores.
4. WHAT IS ROBOTICS…?
Robotics is science of designing or building an application of
robots.Simply,Robotics may be defines as “The Study of Robots”.The
aim of robotics is to be designed as efficient robot.
WHY IS ROBOTICS NEEDED..?
Robotics is needed because:-
• Speed
• can work in dangerous places.
• can do work with accuracy
• can do many tasks together.
5. THE 1ST ROBOT “ UNIMATE”
It was the 1st industrial robots used for machine
assembling. It was developed by “GEORGE DEVOL” in
1950s using his original patent filed in 1954 and
granted in 1961.
7. FIRST USE OF TERM ROBOTICS;-
The word ‘ robotics’ was 1st used in Runaround, a short
Story published in 1942, by ISSSAC ASIMOV.
Robot , a collection of these stories, was published in 1950.
8. The three laws of robotics :-
Oth law : a robot may not harm or injure humanity, or
through inaction, allow humanity to come to harm.
1st law : A robot may not injure a human being, or,
through, inaction, allow a human being to come to harm ,
unless this would violate a higher order law.
2nd law : a robot must respect the order given by humans.
3rd law: a robot must protect its own existence.
10. 1. Rolling robots
Rolling robots have wheels to move around.
They can quickly and easily search.
e.g. pragyan rover
2. WALKING ROBOTS.
Robots on legs are usually brought in on terrain land .
Most robots have 4 legs.
11. STATIONARY ROBOTS
Robots are not only used to explore areas or imitate a human
being.
e,.g – industrial robots.
VIRTUAL ROBOTS.
Virtual robots don’t exits in real life.Virtual robots are just
programs, building blocks,of software inside a computer.
e.g.- talking virtual robots .
12. PROS & CONS,
PROS CONS
Going to far away planets People can lose their jobs.
they can 24*7 without geeting
bored .
It needs supply of power.
They can works fast compared
to humans
It needs maintenance to keep
it running.
They can give rare
information.
It is very costly
