2. Most of us dislike confrontation or
disappointing people. We want to avoid
the discomfort that follows declining the
request of a friend, boss or associate, and
it appears much easier to just comply
with the request now and figure it out
later.
3. What ends up happening is that we
burden ourselves with piles of
unreasonable tasks and deadlines only to
feel overwhelmed and disappoint the
very people we tried to keep happy by
saying yes in the first place.
4. There are 24 hours in one day and saying
yes to one thing means saying no to
another. We cannot do it all and might as
well accept it. Decide what you can
reasonably say yes to and practice a
friendly “no” followed by what it is you
can do.
5. You will find that people
will for the most part
understand that you have
other demands and
responsibilities and will
much prefer getting an
accurate time frame or
answer.
