This study analyzed road accident data from Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa over 8 years to identify critical causes. Statistical models showed that poor road design like improper layout and placement of junctions as well as insufficient signage highly correlated with fatalities. Increasing GDP, population, and number of vehicles also significantly correlated with fatalities. However, rising fatalities despite economic gains reveals deficiencies in highway engineering, traffic enforcement, and management. Urgent road safety improvements were recommended based on UK models.
