Rizal took one final trip abroad from Dapitan to Manila in 1896, with the intention of continuing on to Spain. However, upon arriving in Manila he learned that the Philippine Revolution had begun. Worried about the violence, he boarded a ship for Spain but was arrested upon arriving in Barcelona due to conspiring by the Spanish governor. He was then transported back to Manila where he was tried and executed for rebellion in December of that year, marking the end of his last trip abroad.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

(1) the violent revolution which he
sincerely believed to be premature and

31. The same day when the state of
war was proclaimed in the eight
provinces, Rizal received from

introduction for the Minister of
War and Minister of Colonies,
with a covering letter which
absolved him from all blame for

letters of introduction were
identical.

these days of upheaval and disorder.
…
Do not worry about anything; we are all in the
hands of Divine Providence. Not all those who go to
Cuba die, and in the end one has to die; at least die
doing something good. "
34. He transferred to Isla de Panay which

VICTIM OF SPANISH DUPLICITY
41. September 8 Rizal on board the
Isla de Panay left Singapore at
1:00 p.m..
Not knowing the Spanish
duplicity, he happily continued
the voyage towards Barcelona.
42. Sept. 25- he saw the steamer Isla de
Luzon, leaving the Suez Canal, crammed
with Spanish troops.
Two days later he heard from the
passengers that a telegram arrived from
Manila reporting the execution of
Francisco Roxas, Genato and Osorio
43. Sept. 28, a passenger told Rizal the bad
news that he would be arrested by order
Gov. Gen. Blanco and would be sent to
prison in Ceuta (Spanish Morocco),
Gibraltar.
Shocked by the news, he realized that he
was fooled by the Spanish officials. That
made him to write a letter to his best
friend.
44. "A passengeron boardjust toldme newsthat I canhardlybelieveand
should it be true, would bring to an end the prestige of Philippine
Authorities.
I cannot believe for it would be the greatest injustice and the most
abominableinfamy, unworthynot of a militaryofficialbutof the last
bandit…
I cannot believeit! This is infamous, but if it turns out to be true as
everybodyassures me, I am communicating to youthese newsso thatyou
may appraise my situation.“
Yours,

ARRIVAL IN BARCELONA AS PRISONER (8 DAYS)
48. After the interview, Rizal was taken
aboard the colon which was "full of
soldiers“. At 8:00 p.m., the ship left
Barcelona with Rizal on board.
49. What was the reason why Rizal did not agree
with the Katipunan's cause?
As a good general of our country, he also fought for
our independence. When he was asked of joining
the Katipunan Revolution, he refused to join the
Katipunan Revolution. This is because his
brothers Juan and Jose and him believed in
gradual reform.
50. REMEMBER:
After Andrés Bonifacio issued the
Grito de Balintawak in 1896, Rizal was
arrested, convicted of sedition, and
executed by firing squad on December
30, 1896.
51. Rizal was tried before a court-martial
for rebellion, sedition and conspiracy,
and was convicted on all three charges
and sentenced to death.
54. Why did Rizal leave Japan when he was happy in that beautiful
country and was in loved with a pretty Japanese girl?
There is no doubt that Rizal and O-sei-san were deeply in
love. If Rizal were a man without patriotism and without self-
control, he would have stayed permanently in Japan. He could
have married beautiful O-sei-san and lived happily with her. He
could have a good life in Japan, for the Spanish legation offered
him a job with a high salary. But he was dedicated to a noble
mission - the welfare and freedom of his oppressed people. And
nothing, even the love of the pretty girl and a good job could
make him forgets his mission in life.
56. Who became Rizal’s wife? How did they meet?
Rizal has his last romance in Dapitan. He falls in love
with a pretty Irish girl from Hongkong name Josephine
Bracken. This girl accompanied her blind foster father,
George Taufer, to treated by Jose Rizal. Rizal fails to
cure Taufer’s blindness, but he won the love of
Josephine. Josephine proved to be worthy of Rizal.
Together they lived as man and wife in Dapitan.
Josephine made Rizal happy. Unfortunately, there only
child-a-boy- died three hours after his birth.
58. Why did Leonor Rivera break her engagement
with Rizal? Who did she marry?
Another sorrow of Rizal in Madrid was the
break-up of his engagement with Leonor
Rivera. One cold day in December 1890 he
received a letter from Leonor announcing her
marriage with Henry Kipping, a British
Engineer in the Manila, Dagupan Railway.
This sorrowful news broke his heart.
60. Jose Rizal is a very intelligent person. He
always thinks in a positive way. 1896 was
the year that he went back to Manila and
considered his last trip abroad.
61. Concluding on his messages to his
family and his best friend regarding his
presumed death, he knew that it was
his last trip and that he accepted the
possibility to perish anytime during the
trip. He was so brave not just
physically but emotionally as well that
he thoroughly decided every step to
take.
62. However, Rizal is also just a man who
commits blunders. During this last
trip, he did one of his greatest
mistakes in his life. That mistake was
to trust a friend who was secretly
conspiring against him.
63. His last trip abroad was the saddest part. He
knew his death was near, yet he still went
home.
Therefore, with the love of his country and
his countrymen he chose to die, than to be
safe abroad while his country suffers cruelty
of other country. Nevertheless, he released
the Philippines from captivity and freed us
through his peaceful and heroic way of
revolution.
