This document discusses display screen equipment (DSE) and the potential risks associated with its use. It defines DSE as any electronic screen used to display alphanumeric or graphic information regardless of the display process. It notes some alleged health risks from DSE use like epilepsy and dermatitis were unfounded, but visual and postural fatigue are risks. It also discusses work-related upper limb disorders and measures employers should take like improving workstation design, adjusting workloads, providing wrist supports and training to prevent repetitive strain injuries. Finally, it outlines the UK's Health and Safety (DSE) Regulations 1992 which require workstation risk analyses and provision of training and information to operators.
This document provides information to simplify understanding of display screen equipment (DSE) in the workplace and ensure compliance with regulations. It notes that while some health issues can arise from improper DSE use, correct workstation setup can avoid most problems. It emphasizes that employees should conduct self-assessments and discuss any issues with occupational health professionals rather than equipment providers. Specialist assessments may be needed for those with pre-existing conditions.

The presentation compares and contrasts the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE). Both exchanges list companies and facilitate trading of equities, mutual funds, and debt securities. However, the NSE uses more advanced technology and has established several branches across India. In addition, the NSE has more indices to benchmark performance and was established by the Indian government to increase transparency, while the DSE operates as a public limited company under Bangladeshi law. While the exchanges offer similar products, the NSE's equity segment and use of technology is more developed. The presentation recommends the DSE adopt modern technology and increase public awareness to strengthen its market.
Approach to Employability Skills in Technical Education & its impact on satis...Prashant Mahajan
Ample of the current motivation to teach and assess employability skills will decide India’s ability to compete in the world economy. For a win-win situation, there must not be any differences in Institute’s perception and students’ experience in accessing employability skills for future prospective. What this paper aims to demonstrate is that, although as academics/service providers, we can use a general term “Employability skills”, we need to describe what is meant by this term to students, and colleges also need to recognize how their services and skill development are impacting on satisfaction of students while accessing employability skills. The purpose of this study is to examine the importance perceived by the institutes and experience realized by the students and to connect employability skills’ growth on students’ satisfaction of selection of an institute of Technical Education.
The document discusses data structures, including primitive and structured data types, linear and non-linear data structures, and static and dynamic memory representation. It specifically covers arrays, including their implementation using indexes and bounds to store and access element values in rows and columns. Multidimensional arrays are described as using brackets to define multiple indices to access element values.
Your intestines contain tightly packed cells that form a barrier between your gut and the rest of your body; a "leaky gut" occurs when this barrier is compromised, allowing undigested food particles, bacteria, and toxins to enter your bloodstream, which can lead to food allergies. Maintaining a healthy diet and taking probiotics can help plug any leaks in the gut barrier and improve digestive health.

Within this document, the creators follow many conventions of a risk assessment. These conventions include the hazard and how it can prevented. The risk rating is also included to show to the director and the manager on the set the severity of the hazard. Hazards such as a door are rated low as its unlikely that anyone will accidently close their fingers in the door. On the other hand, hazards like a fire are rated at the high end because there is a chance that either hair or another loose item may get set alight. Unpreventable errors like a natural disaster will not be recorded on this article however the director may have to reschedule recording accordingly.

1) The document discusses four different layout designs for a tabloid newspaper mock layout.
2) The first design has the advertisement at the top and uses columns for the copy. The second places more emphasis on the large image and has a higher text to image ratio.
3) The third layout uses a more traditional design with masthead, headline and image on the right with wrapping text.
4) The fourth contemporary design pushes boundaries with a minimal caption and large centered image and advertisement.
The document discusses layout design for magazine articles using InDesign. It describes using grids and margins to structure the layout and place elements correctly. Headers, drop caps, and baseline spacing are tested in different layouts to attract readers' attention and make the text appear denser. Font choices are considered in terms of masculinity/femininity and their effect on different audiences. Overall the layouts are assessed as dull due to a lack of color and complexity in the mock-ups. Further extension tasks experiment with overlapping elements and different page configurations.
This document provides an analysis of three different informational posters or leaflets. It evaluates the design, language, and content of each document. For the first document about pet store animals, it notes the use of images and red colors to grab attention, as well as short sentences. It finds the information is one-sided against pet stores. For the diabetes poster, it analyzes the blue and white colors, bold font, and clear bullet points. It says information is accurate but biased against the disease. For the abortion poster, it discusses the use of red, white and green colors and a baby image. It finds the language formal but could be more concise. In all cases, it checks the documents against codes of practice
The document discusses the author's experience creating mock layouts using InDesign. It describes using grids, margins, columns and different font styles. Extension tasks involve creating layouts with non-standard dimensions and overlapping text/images.
This document provides an analysis of the layout, design elements, and stylistic choices made in four magazine articles or spreads. It discusses the use of margins, columns, grids, large initial letters, page numbers, and other conventions in Q Magazine, Marc Jacobs magazine, Elle Magazine, and Cara's Magazine. The analysis focuses on design principles like organization, hierarchy, flow, and the use of images, text, and white space to engage the reader.
Media bias has become more prevalent as viewers increasingly rely on media to shape their opinions on political and social issues. Journalists can claim bias by saying they are sticking to a "side" and only discussing one subject rather than multiple perspectives, and some bias is obvious like only stating the good parts of an issue and one bad thing. The information consumed from media is akin to an injection that automatically sends the viewer a message about a topic.
This document analyzes a leaflet about discouraging pet purchases from pet stores. It notes the leaflet uses images of dogs in kennels and puppies with a caption saying "puppies are dying" to make audiences feel guilty. Red and black text is used to convey seriousness. Red bullet points signal potentially distressing information. The leaflet avoids ambiguity but is biased against pet stores by only mentioning the negatives. It provides no evidence to support its arguments and does not reference sources. In summary, the document evaluates the design, language use, and factual accuracy of an advocacy leaflet discouraging pet store purchases.
The document summarizes the student's experimental photography project. The student created collage images mixing photos of two subjects within triangular compositions. When creating the images manually, a mistake led to an unexpected but successful design. Scanning the images allowed the student to add texture and a vintage look in Photoshop. Overall, the student is pleased with the minimalist yet interesting final pieces and feels they fulfilled the assignment requirements by taking aesthetic, technical, and experimental approaches.
The document provides an analysis and evaluation of experimental photography work by the author. It discusses the creative process, influences, techniques, and outcomes of creating four composite photographic images. Key points include:
- The final images came out as expected or better, though with some unexpected elements that worked well. Manual creation and scanning allowed for creativity.
- Influences included artists David Hockney and John Stezaker. Styles from both were incorporated, such as collages with mixed subjects.
- Editing in Photoshop added lines, textures, and tones for aesthetic effect. Weak points may be confusion over mixed subjects, but the work fulfills the brief and experimental goals.

- The work fulfills the brief of a minimum of three images and experiments with different media and techniques.
The document summarizes the student's final imagery project. It discusses how the student manually created collages with triangles made of smaller shapes and subjects, which were then scanned and edited digitally. The student experimented with techniques like channel mixing and adding white outlines. While some elements like the small collage pieces could be confusing, the student is overall pleased with the minimalist, vintage aesthetic achieved. Room for further improvement includes developing a stronger holographic effect and considering alternate angles. The work fulfills the assignment requirements through a variety of manual and digital media.
Steph Westerman is proposing a photo project that involves taking portraits of family members with their favorite pet incorporated into the image. She will take pictures of each pet separately and cut and tile the pet images onto the person's face and body to give the portrait a textured look. She will then alter the colors and contrast to make the images look pale and vintage. Her target audience is teenagers and young adults who would appreciate this artistic style that is similar to images seen on CD covers.

What Health and Safety legislation might you need to consider in this project?
The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992
I will have to research and look into this regulation of the Display Screen Equipment
as this is one of the regulations that could affect my project. This regulation states
the rules for the people who use DSE on a regular rota. This will affect people that
use DSE as their normal work. As I will be using a computer for a large period of
time I will have to consider this regulation. When examining this regulation a risk
assessment will have to be carried out this will include testing the risks for the people
and equipment when carrying out this job. There is also a checklist which the work
station must have to follow and make sure that the workstation has everything on the
checklist. This check list includes different sections including assessment of the
display screen (must have stable image, adjustable brightness and contrast) another
requirement includes the keyboard (must have clearly legible symbols on the keys,
also have a matt surface). The work surface, work chair and also work environment
also need to be assessed to make sure that they are suitable for the person they will
need to make sure that there is plenty of space, providing a comfortably good
position and also appropriate lighting. Training in using computers is also a
requirement in the DSE regulation making sure that the people know the risks and
know that they need short breaks regularly. Another aspect which needs to be
considered is eye tests. Making sure that people have the right eyesight when
staring to work on a computer is essential. I will have to consider this regulation as I
will be working at a computer for long periods of time so it is important that I am
aware of all the rules and risks of the computer work place.

The Health and Safety at Work, etc Act 1974
This work act states that employers and students must be aware of the risks and
health of safety of them and others around whilst working. It is important that the
employer’s and people working will have to be responsible for health and safety in
the working environment this act states the health and safety for anyone who could
be affected. There is8 different sections which states the rules and regulations of
what every work company will need to follow. I will have to consider this as I will be
carrying out my recipe card project in a work place environment.
Working Time directive regulations 1998
This regulation states the specific times a worker should be working for and how
many breaks will be needed whilst working. It states how long the maximum weekly
working time is, the pattern of work, length of night work, young workers and day
rests. I will have to consider this regulation as I will need to take breaks when
working and I will also need to know how long the length of time I will be working for
when carrying out this project.
