Editor's Notes
Good afternoon everyone,Thank you for joining today this Webinar on how to Reward and Engage your team while working remotely
I will give you a little background about Aroundireland.ie and myself
We passed from physical communication in the office to work from home and in some cases alone.
So the challenge is how to keep your team engaged, motivated and productive?
I have been doing some research on how Remote Working has impacted Ireland and the research shows that:
In the case of EMPLOYEES: Remote working is linked with negative effects on mental health, feelings of isolation and stress
And In the Case of EMPLOYERS: Remote Working does not support creativity, groups dynamic or collaboration which in the long term could impact on companies productivity.
And Another research based on Remote Working, in this case in the unite states, show that:
So having all that in mind, companies need to focus in the Company culture, where staff is at the centre of everything to keep them motivated and engaged. And Remote Team building events are a fantastic tool to create fun moments, promote collaboration and keep that sense of belonging.
One simple thing we can do, is to practice Empathy.I want to share this short video with you, that although it was recorded at the beginning of the pandemic, it is still relevant.
Virtual Coffee: Schedule some time during the week, just to check how are things going, to have a chat, or celebrate someone's birthday.
Make it very casual and stress-free, but encourage teams to attend.
Host a virtual work fundraiser
Find a charity that you want to contribute to, get your team involve and let the magic happen.I have a very good friend in Down Syndrome Ireland and they say this events are very successful for them of course because they fundraise money for great causes and the companies because everyone tends to get involved with a commun goal.
Lunch and Learn, which are becoming very popular in the past few years. These are voluntary meetings, where people from across your organization, get together, share knowledge and learn from each other.
A sample of this could be your Marketing Team showing some tips and tricks on how to use more Social media like LinkedIn, or how to use tools such as Canva o Wordpress and other week the Finance Team shows tips on how to master Excell, or things like this.
Friendly Challenge: the obvious ones are the ones to get people active like Walking or Running, but you can also organize the Picture of the Week.
Book and Cinema Club: This are for the fun. Now there are even platforms that allow watch the same movie or serie together from platforms like Netflix or Amazon Prime and everyone watch it together, comment on th chat and is a lot of fun
This activities require some budget for it, but in the most companies, before the pandemic used to have budget for this activities too, so is just moving from physical team building to remote activities.
Virtual Party: Hire some entertainment, it can be a magician, a comedian, A sport Speaker etc… and start the party
Beer or Wine Tasting + Tapas: Organize with a company an online Beer or Wine tasting (depending on what your staff prefer
Make sure everyone gets at home the Tasting Package and Tapas and on time for the event.
Enjoy the experience
Cooking or Painting Classes: Presentations are communication tools that can be used as demonstrateons, lectures, speeches, reports, and more.
Send a gift to your staff on their birthday: it can be just a small detail as a card, a small cake with a candle, or a Food Hamper but it will be a good reminder that you care for them.
Learn a new language:
Some Workplaces nowadays are very international with colleagues from different nationalities or maybe your company works in international markets and you want your staff or more senior staff to learn a new language to deal with new clients?
Why not encourage your staff and offer them the opportunity of learning a new language, in small groups and a very relaxing way?
The more prepared your staff is, the better.
What large organizations like Microsft expect in the future is an Hybrid Work Environment, so that means not everyone will be in the office at the same time,
