1. REVENUE SHARING WITH ARTISTS
by Kenny Beck
Albert Brooks is a genius for crystallizing a concept perhaps born of the
mind of alien, space emissary Gene Roddenberry. Huh? Just when you
thought it was safe to go back in the water. Constantly we artists and
entertainment content creators are told that consumers no longer are
willing to pay for our content anymore. The evidence substantiating this
mounts every day and you would be hard pressed to find anyone who
disagreed with this including me, to a degree. But I hesitate to totally
subscribe to this doom and gloom scenario because I firmly believe there is
a strain of content they would be willing to plunk down a few dollars for
even though that might be for just a short period of time, there is a strain,
though I'm thinking about assembling a consortium of investors to put the
money up for me to invent it.
In the meantime, originating/founding Hip Hop Music producer/writer
Kenny Beck (Krs One, Octavia, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam), has once again dared
to be different. Hip Hop World History - a two-part film, television special,
web cast, live event and periodical is in the worked with an even bigger
twist. This was all created with the opportunity for artists, content creators,
fans and ancillary/associated workers, to be a part of the production and
profit making process. Tired of seeing social networks take what he thinks is
advantage of many underprivileged youth, by using the content these youth
post so freely to their sites in the hope of attracting an entertainment
company to sign them, he's created something that will better serve their
needs.
Not only will it better serve the needs of musical hip hop progenitors it will
also be used to assist a broad spectrum of hip hop performers; hip hop
actors, hip hop singers, hip hop models and all other types of hip hop
performers to have an effective way to reach for their dreams and goals and
participate in the money-making process to boot. How this works is very
clever indeed. Rather than having artists, stuck with having to pay a monthly
fee to some site that promises them nothing but cleverly shapes themselves
as the catalyst to fulfilling their dreams, Beck's business model is more
straight and to the point. will receive stake in a portion of the revenue
generated by this project if you are one of the first 1,000 to sign up and by
getting involved with the overall structure and inner workings of production.
Already he has received consternation efforts from who are trying to figure
what they want to assume be a "unique spin" o some sort of Internet hustle.
e has rebuffed them simply by being real and truthful about his course of
acti. Beck has worked with a number of profile organizations and artists in
his career, so he is not easily moved easily.
By engaging in the creation of content specifically designed to enhance an
2. advertisers or sponsors product is one of the ways Beck see's fledgling
opportunity afoot for really creative artists. Okay, back to writer/actor Albert
Brooks and legendary show runner/creator Gene Roddenberry.
Roddenberry's creation of the epic TV adventure "Star Trek" has given us so
much more than we ever paid respect to him for when he was alive. In
particular was the concept of the device which Brooks took apart and
glorified a very important segment of. Say hello to "Computer" and "Archive
or Library". Not that Roddenberry was the brains behind the creation and
development of the computer, not by a long shot, but his foretelling of the
way a computer was to be used in the future, portended a lot for us that you
may not realize.
Artists, nor creators, nor ancillary workers, associates or fans need to invest
any money at all in the project for now. On good faith and a belief in the hip
hop community we are attempting to present a new way of doing things for
artists. By having the ability to target more specifically the exact audience
advertisers and sponsors are seeking, by creating powerfully engaging
content born at the hands of the very customer base they are seeking to sell
to, we have devised, surmised and surprised many people by daring to use
that same customer base as the creative, sales, marketing and promotion
army by rewarding them for doing an excellent job – giving them exactly
what they want, recognition, remuneration, confirmation of their skills and
presentation to the largest, most specific audience they have ever had.
Now hold on, wait a minute, let's backtrack here for a moment. Let's not. It
is merely a formula of common sense with a few tweaks and twist one being
the willingness to share in the profits generated by the companies
productions and creativity. Sign up now and be among the first 1,000
