This document provides an overview of the agenda and presentations for the "Rethink Retirement" track of the Odyssey Hackathon on February 5 in Amsterdam. The program includes presentations on challenges in the pension industry, APG's innovation approach and track record with hackathons, and explanations of the two challenges around managing one's own financial roadmap to achieve FIRE and providing value from pensions before retirement. There is also a discussion on radical redesign of retirement and how new technologies could change systems to care for people's needs in the future. The document aims to help participants understand what to expect from participating in the hackathon.

Challenge 1 – Explained
FIRE – Manage your own
financial roadmap
33. FI - RE
Most of the time financial independence is explained as no longer having to work for money,
by having realized alternative sources of income e.g. savings, investments, pension, business.
FIRE also is an organic movement of individuals sharing the same goal.

Gen “Now”
48
Pensions aren’t sexy. The ultimate example of
delayed gratification.
Kryptonite for a generation used to 24/7
instant feedback loops to their actions.
What if pensions and retirement matched the
rest of the world?
49. GroeiFabriek.com/hackathon
Value B4
49
Currently pensions don’t provide value
before retirement.
Yet they aren’t passive, the investments
fund new initiatives and developments.
Are there non- & monetary valuestreams
that could be provided before retirement?
50. GroeiFabriek.com/hackathon
New Expectations
Transparency
Millennials aren’t satisfied
with vague annual reports
on their investments. It’s
their money, they want to
see how it’s being used
and the impact in real-
time
Agency
A 20-year old can rent
houses and order cars at
the click of a button. They
want the option to have
influence how their money
is being used, even if they
end up trusting someone
else.
Tangible
Large investments from
pension funds are
creating the world around
us. Why shouldn’t the
funders get privileges?
There’s more to offer than
money.

New Possibilities
New technology allows us to redefine
the possibilities of retirement:
● Shareholder Voting & Proxy
● Loyalty/Privileges
● Real-time transparency & payouts
● Upfront Compliance
● Modularity and seamless
Connectivity with other apps
53. GroeiFabriek.com/hackathon
Tollroads + IoT +
Blockchain
Roads facilitate increased economic
opportunity by connecting economic
centers. You could incentivize
interest in road investments by
giving shareholders free passage
through tolls, as a perk.
53
54. GroeiFabriek.com/hackathon
DAO & Co-Ops
Pension companies are an
institution to organize the long-
term investments of a large
group of people. Is this
administration possible to be
done by AI managing
blockchain portfolios to cut out
the middleman?
54

API Pensions
What if your local cafe could
provide you discounts if you
have investments in green
energy? How could pension
information be used securely
and privately by local
businesses and startups to
create new solutions?

- Ask your Jedi’s a lot of questions
- Attend track deep dives
- Talk to other teams
- Don’t be afraid to share your ideas.

78. Radical redesign: What if we could
build the world a new with the tech of
tomorrow?
How would it take care of
you in 2059?
79. RADICAL REDESIGN 2059?
“You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes
the existing model obsolete.”
― Buckminster Fuller
What could be
the crazy
question?
80. Is it feasible to invest in the Future?
Challenge 1: Economy of Growth
Challenge 2: Invest in Critical infrastructure
Challenge 3:Invest in Longlivity
Story of stuff
81. First idea’s for radical redesign:
● Challenge 1:
non economical system: How does a bird build his house?
● Challenge 2:
Beyond long term depreciation: Emergent cities
● Challenge 3
For the future: evolutionary systems
For example:
Don’t pay for
Housing in 2059
82. Build a digital ecosystem
Solve problems that interest:
- All Cities
- All critical infrastructure parties
- All pensionfunds
What would be the role of new technologies
in new ecosystems
-DAO, AI-DAO, User curated lists, Public
utillity networks, stake machine ….
