Sr. Manager (Locomotive Engineering)
Currently working as a Sr. Manager in the locomotive design department and in-charge of
mechanical design of the locomotives and track maintenance vehicles. I am managing a group
of Sr. Engineers, and Supervisors. My team is also responsible for the trouble shooting during
fabrication and manufacturing/assembly shop and commissioning issues. Brief of work profile
is as below:
○ Preparing technical offers for different tenders of diesel locomotives, track
maintenance vehicles etc.
○ Preparation of estimated factory cost for mechanical parts of locomotive against
tenders for main locomotive or for spares.
○ Preparing mechanical design for locomotives and associate with the
manufacturing shop and field engineering team for resolution of issues.
○ Preparation of drawings and issue of list of major BOI for procurement by
Planning department.
○ Preparation of purchase spec and issue of purchase indent for items to be procured
for first time. Furnish technical clearance to offers for issue of purchase orders.
○ Preparation of test schedules for mechanical testing of locomotives.
○ Working in close association with commercial / marketing department for
interaction with customers.
○ Involved in the IPR and other developmental activities in the department.
As an in-charge of mechanical design in locomotive department I have been involved in
following assignments:
○ Development of diesel electric locomotives ranging from 350 hp to 1400 hp.
○ Development of various track maintenance vehicles like Diesel electric tower car
(DETC), Track utility vehicle etc for Indian Railways.
○ Design of test rig for squeeze load testing of shell structure of prototype DETC.
Various stresses were measured by RDSO team using strain gauges. Our design
validation was done.
○ Development of battery powered locomotive for DMRC for rescue operation in
tunnel.
○ Manufacturing of WAG-7 locomotive for Indian Railways with additional
features over the conventional loco.

2. ○ Project leader for development of 3300 hp diesel electric loco with FDL engine of
GE. Associated in drafting long term agreement with GE for supply of diesel
engines in line with finalised SOW. Worked out locomotive layout in close
association with GE design team.
○ Presently working on offer preparation for IR tender of “High speed stainless steel
EMU train set (20 coaches and 16 coaches)”. We are partnering with Kawasaki &
Toshiba for bidding. As a team member of bidding team, we are working out the
estimated cost, capital expenditure on facilities/ machines for coach
manufacturing at BHEL Jhansi. As a part of bid we are also working out the frame
work and cost of maintenance depot at Ghaziabad to meet the train set
performance on different parameters of Reliability, Maintainability and
Availability.
