Bulk material operations technician – IV (yard operator): responsible for unloading coal or
limestone safely off the Monongahela River from coal barges via a barge un-loader system. Daily
duties include but are not limited to deckhand, equipment watch, barge un-loader operator,
heavy equipment operator (Caterpillar 844 rubber tire dozer, D9L track dozer, Komatsu front end
loader, Caterpillar skid steer, and a fork lift truck), perform daily equipment checks to ensure that
equipment is in good working condition. Operate all equipment safely with the intent to
minimize risk to personnel and equipment. Perform weekly and monthly planned maintenance
schedules.
Qualified to operate the Equilibrium Crane (E-crane) to unload limestone for the SO2 scrubber.
Responsible for maintaining and inspecting all SCSRs (Self Contained Self Rescuer) as well as
conducting training on the proper use of the equipment in the event of an emergency.
Qualified as crew leadoff in the event of the Foreman’s absence; duties include handing out job
duties, filling vacancies, writing out tags according to First Energy’s Lockout/Tag out program,
and attend any meetings as required.
Conduct environmental monitoring such as air sampling using the MSA Escort Elf pump, test for
respiratory coal dust concentrations. Compile and submit findings to upper management.
Chairman of the safety committee as well as an active member for the last three years: duties
include organizing and running monthly safety meetings, planning safety promotions and events
as well as performing quarterly safety walk downs, conducting safety audits, submitting safety
suggestions when necessary and seeing them through to completion.
Labor/management safety team member– the team is tasked with bridging the gap between the work
force and management in order to provide a safer workplace for all company employees and
contractors.

West Virginia University Hospital (Ruby Memorial) (05/2004 – 02/2009)
Cardiac Monitor Technician: monitor and record patient’s heart rhythms using wireless
telemetry technology.
Print and interpret documentation of ECG strips for every patient that is monitored during a
shift. Post the strips into a designated notebook under patients file.

United States Navy (1996 – 2000)
Sonar Technician Geographical (STG3) petty officer third class: operated the ASR and
formulating a fire solution on enemy targets; member of the 89-Tactical towed Array passive
Sonar (TACTAS) deployment team. Performed planned equipment maintenance on sonar
equipment to assure the equipment was in good working order. In charge of maintenance and
installation of the Passive Countermeasure System (PCMS), which was used to cover the outside
skin of the ship and reduce its radar signature. Other duties included operating the AN/SQS-56
active sonar in order to track enemy targets and form a valuable firing solution.
Damage Control Petty Officer: maintained on-board firefighting equipment such as fire hoses,
drains and life saving equipment; conducted divisional firefighting training on various
equipment.
Search and Rescue Swimmer (SAR): responsible for open ocean rescue operations for “man
overboard” and /or pilot crashes. Trained on various search and rescue equipment such as the
rescue litter and SAR-1 life vest and conducted onboard training for search and rescue exercises.
Assisted with on-site rescue and relief efforts associated with the attack on the USS Cole (Aden,
Yemen).
