I perform assigned duties under the general supervision of the Asst: Fire Chief. Performing
duties on my own initiative and exercising independent judgment in the analysis and solution of
matters and actions essential to the Fire Services Division. My supervisor relies on myself to
apply the standard management techniques to accomplish projects, providing advice and
guidance on unusual or difficult problems. Review work for compliance with general
instructions and policies for adequacy, and for soundness of conclusions and recommendations. I
then using sound judgment, selecting, interpreting and or adapting available guidelines to
specific issues. My Independent judgment is also required when making minor deviations from
guidelines based on circumstances. Guidelines may also be developed by myself and then
approved by my supervisor.
I prepare correspondence and compile statistical data for reports, charts or records, extracting
data from documents. I utilize a computer to prepare a variety of narrative and other documents
involving the common terminology of the facility: word processing, spreadsheet, presentation
software and printing equipment to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print. Type a variety of
materials, or with oral instructions in which information is clearly and properly identified.
Complete documents in final form. Assemble with attachments and/or enclosures and routes for
signature or coordination and dispatches. Utilizes various software programs to e-mail and
search internet to conduct research. Verifies accuracy of computations or computer quantities
such as totals, subtotals, percentages, averages and balances following standard procedures.
Prepare and submits monthly status report to the DES. Then as required, prepare recurring and
special charts, graphs, and narratives by compiling information from office files, logs, and
supplied information.
I update the DES/ FES on publications, directives, regulations, and SOPs. I also conduct periodic
review of files system to assure that the files are maintained in accordance with the Army
functional files system.
I perform support work such as establishing and maintaining office technical and administrative
files in accordance with applicable regulations; maintains the office reference material consisting
of directives, regulatory guidance, and publications; composes non-technical written notes from
a short phrase or idea, verbal instruction, or rough notes.
Work with Fire Protection & Prevention as an office staff member of F/F crew in preparing
specific structural and occupancy related Pre-Fire Plans for all assigned buildings. Using pre-fire
plan printouts to properly identify and record changes in structures that affect firefighting tactics
or changes the response routes. Ensuring that noted hazards and structural changes are
documented in preparation of future training needs, plans and SOPs. Maintain knowledge of Fire
& Emergency services operations to include HAZMAT, emergency response, EMS, plans and
operations. Prepare, issue and inspect Hot Work permits, Dig permits. Locate, identify and
explain various items from blue prints to personnel in and out of DES/EFS and to contractors.
I ensure the serviceability of all exercise monitoring equipment, chemical detection, radiological,
biological detection, civilian HAZMAT and PPE. Make technical, visual and sensory tests of
chemical end items and/or components; Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), Chemical
Biological Radiological, Nuclear & Explosive (CBRNE).
Make contacts with managers, supervisors, and employees but also extended to other officials
outside the organization regarding admin, budgetary, personnel, logistics and security matters.
For the exchange of information about programs, provide and receive guidance concerning
administrative controls, procedures and processes.

operating fire fighting, CFR, Aerial, and rescue vehicles of significant complexity. Responding
them to emergencies and fires on ships, trains, trucks, aircraft, woodlands, and structures that
contain ammunition, hazmats, dangerous cargo, fuels, gases, and volatile chemicals. Knowing
the safe placement and set up, then operating various pumps and foam systems ensuring correct
pump pressure, water flow, proper foam type and percentages. Factoring friction loss, differences
in elevation and appliances. Set up and use of generators, hydraulic and pneumatic, extrication,
cutting equipment and ventilation fans. Also performed on an ALS ambulance as an EMT-D.
Performed as Alarm room operator answering emergency calls, then imputing information into a
CAD system. Performing radio communications, directions and dispatching personnel and
equipment. I also work as assigned as a Captain/Station Captain over two Fire stations.
Establishing incident command and scene control. While identifying and directing action to be
taken and insuring completion of a plan of action to bring under control and secure the scene to
prevent further damage and loss of life and property. Directing fire suppression, rescue efforts,

performing actions taken and insuring the completion of a plan of action to bring under control
and secure the scene. Directing fire suppression, rescue efforts, identifying hazardous situations

Performing duties on my own initiative and exercising independent judgment in the analysis and solution of matters and actions essential to the Fire Services Division. My supervisor relies on myself to apply the standard management techniques to accomplish projects, providing advice and guidance on unusual or difficult problems. Review work for compliance with general instructions and policies for adequacy, and for soundness of conclusions and recommendations. I then using sound judgment, selecting, interpreting and or adapting available guidelines to specific issues. My Independent judgment is also required when making minor deviations from guidelines based on circumstances. Guidelines may also be developed by myself and then approved by my supervisor. I prepare correspondence and compile statistical data for reports, charts or records, extracting data from documents. I utilize a computer to prepare a variety of narrative and other documents involving the common terminology of the facility: word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software and printing equipment to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print. Type a variety of materials, or with oral instructions in which information is clearly and properly identified. Complete documents in final form. Assemble with attachments and/or enclosures and routes for signature or coordination and dispatches. Utilizes various software programs to e-mail and search internet to conduct research. Verifies accuracy of computations or computer quantities such as totals, subtotals, percentages, averages and balances following standard procedures. Prepare and submits monthly status report to the DES. Then as required, prepare recurring and special charts, graphs, and narratives by compiling information from office files, logs, and supplied information. I update the DES/ FES on publications, directives, regulations, and SOPs. I also conduct periodic review of files system to assure that the files are maintained in accordance with the Army functional files system. I perform support work such as establishing and maintaining office technical and administrative files in accordance with applicable regulations; maintains the office reference material consisting of directives, regulatory guidance, and publications; composes non-technical written notes from a short phrase or idea, verbal instruction, or rough notes. Work with Fire Protection & Prevention as an office staff member of F/F crew in preparing specific structural and occupancy related Pre-Fire Plans for all assigned buildings. Using pre-fire plan printouts to properly identify and record changes in structures that affect firefighting tactics
  • 2. or changes the response routes. Ensuring that noted hazards and structural changes are documented in preparation of future training needs, plans and SOPs. Maintain knowledge of Fire & Emergency services operations to include HAZMAT, emergency response, EMS, plans and operations. Prepare, issue and inspect Hot Work permits, Dig permits. Locate, identify and explain various items from blue prints to personnel in and out of DES/EFS and to contractors. I ensure the serviceability of all exercise monitoring equipment, chemical detection, radiological, biological detection, civilian HAZMAT and PPE. Make technical, visual and sensory tests of chemical end items and/or components; Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), Chemical Biological Radiological, Nuclear & Explosive (CBRNE). Make contacts with managers, supervisors, and employees but also extended to other officials outside the organization regarding admin, budgetary, personnel, logistics and security matters.
