Milwaukee Medical Complex School of Nursing- Registered Nurse Diploma-1997

Clinical Cancer Center Day Hospital 2008-Present
• Provide excellent patient care for all oncology and BMT patients. Able to competently care for
patients in emergent situations in the outpatient setting.
• Work in partnership with leadership to write annual performance reviews for all OP BMT staff.
Assist Director of Outpatient Cancer Services and Department Managers in the collection of data
of ongoing improvement projects aimed at evaluating the utilization and efficiency of the Cancer
Center.
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between nursing staff, medical staff and
other hospital departments.
• Develop and conduct internal and external formal educational programs. Worked together with
inpatient RN educator and CNS to develop and present a regional, ceu eligible, course on
Infection Prevention in the Immune Compromised Patient, March 2014.
• Teach a hospital wide, ceu eligible, course on Multiple Myeloma, bi-annually.
• As lead RN, collaborated with Cancer Center Leadership to develop, implement, and evaluate all
policies and procedures to allow RN staff to begin to perform outpatient BMTs. Monitor
adherence to policies and procedure and actively intervene to avoid/correct variances.
• Work with Cancer Center Educator to develop and evaluate orientation plans for nursing and
assistive staff in regard to outpatient bone marrow transplant.
• Independently orient RNs to the outpatient BMT program.
• Participate on nursing, medical, hospital and department committees/councils. Assist in
preparation for Joint commission, Magnet and Fact.
Interventional Radiology 2006-2008
• Provided excellent nursing care for patients with basic IR, critical and traumatic needs. Maintained
same level of care independently in all emergent/call situations. Proficient and able to function in
all areas of the department, including: all neurological, body, central line and special needs cases
such as intra-arterial chemotherapy.
• Served as the chairperson for the Quality Care Council at the unit level. Participated as a member
in the house wide Ambulatory Care Council.
• Updated existing and developed new patient education documents for the whole department.
Collaborated with MDs, mid-level practioners and staff RNs to create these documents.
Bone Marrow Transplant Inpatient Unit 1999-2006
• Performed Allogenic and Autologous bone marrow transplants (infusions).
• Active member of the Pain Resource, Critical Care, Patient Education and Coordinating Councils.
• Served as the co-chairperson for the Quality Care Council at the unit level. Participated as a
member in the house wide Quality Council.
• Coordinated/facilitated an in house contact hour program on Multiple Myeloma.
• Coordinated a Team Intensive Evaluation on immunosuppressive therapy that improved patient
outcomes by over 80%.
• Primary charge nurse on night and day shift. Successfully managed charge nurse responsibilities,
often while maintaining a full patient assignment or precepting.
• Precepted new hire RNs up to 280 hours per year.
• Assisted in writing 2 documents which ultimately resulted in Froedtert Hospital receiving Magnet
status.
Professional and Community Service
• Volunteer for the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and American Diabetes
Association.
• Participated in the Relay for Life during all years employed on the BMT inpatient unit.
• Participated in the “Celebration of Life” party during all years employed on the BMT in/outpatient
units. Duties included providing food, raffle prizes and assisting in making ornaments for all
survivors for the celebration.
• Member of the Oncology Nursing Society and SWONS.
Achievements
• Successfully Completed the Professional Development Pathway-Level 3 in 2006.
• Received the Professional Clinical Nurse Excellence Award in 2005.
• Received the “Going the Extra Mile” award twice in 2004 for above and beyond patient care.
Courses: EKG, Chemotherapy Administration, Critical Care, Preceptor Training, BLS, ACLS,
and Requestor Training Program: Eye, Tissue and Organ Donation.
