AIGNA is a good source to enhances the gerontological nurses’ knowledge, skills and expertise through networking, information sharing and other knowledge translation activities
1)includes MMSE, GDS, ECG, Bloods etc in order to evaluate an older person’s functional status, physical health, cognition, mental health and social environmental circumstances
2) in order to enhance and maintain health and wellbeing of elderly people and maintain them in their own home and to enable them to live with dignity and independence.
3)In relation to diabetes management and continence promotion
3 )includes foot screening-to role out early complications, education and support on diet and glucometer, management of hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia, diabetes complications and insulin management, foot care, blood test for hbaic and ketone test.
to increase nurses knowledge and skills in identifying early complications of diabetes and to all patients and residents with diabetes and their families
such as Ketone testing, HbA1c 3 monthly, annual eye test, individual Glucometer, retractable insulin needles and policy on safe use of Insulin and insulin pens
Currently auditing the practice in pain management. I would like to look at how they managing the pain, way of monitoring, evaluating, reviewing, and outcome. Pain free is one of the important factor to increase the quality of life of older adults .
