1. RESTRUCTURING LIFE:
RESTRUCTURING THINKING – the
AFTERSCHO☺OL Way.
People are bundles of energy and enthusiasms. We need to harness this energy. Some
persons are lamenting at poor energy production or poor energy transmission. I lament at
poor human energy utilization. If we produce less electricity, there is not much problem,
but if we not able to use human energy, we must blame ourselves. We are unable to use the
immense potential that we have. We are not able to give opportunity to people to express
themselves and to present their capabilities.
At AFTERSCHO☺OL we to change human mind. We believe that every person has
tremendous capability. Every education and training must lead to increased self awareness,
confidence and capability at putting our skills to work. We believe that we all have
tremendous potential. Entrepreneurship, particularly, social entrepreneurship can give us
the possibility to enrich our life with such experiences, where we can unleash our potential
and enable others also to put in their best efforts. We try to bring solutions to problems of
civilization. We try to bring solutions to simple problems of the society, which we have
ignored so far. We try to open the thought processes and enable people to think creatively,
differently, distinctly and enable them to make a mark in social and personal life. At
AFTERSCHO☺OL we try to enable people to take the leadership role in all their
endeavors. We try to enable people to come forward and solve the problems that our
society is facing.
Most of us have been trained to think in a mechanistic way. Schools, colleges and
educational institutions have all trained us to give fixed reply, think in a linear direction,
and avoid questions. Family and social pressure has put a certain mask on us and has
forced us to believe that we are such person and we cannot be beyond a certain capability.
Traditional systems of evaluations and ranking have dubbed us to be of certain rank and
certain level and we are not expected to be beyond that level. Our traditional educational
and social environment has trained to be self oriented, study alone, work alone, and be
individualistic. We want to reverse these thoughts. We have restructured our education
system at AFTERSCHO☺OL, we have done away with traditional examination and
traditional evaluation system. We have introduced a flexible, open and pragmatic
educational system. We have done away with traditional ranking system. We have
introduced a collective learning based system, and learning is supposed to be a multi
dimensional and multidirectional activity. Students are supposed to be learner as well as
trainers. They are part of the process as much as they are behind the process. We believe in
active learning. If we you really want to be with AFTERSCHO☺OL, you have to first
change your thinking. You have to restructure your approach. You have to take a dip in
2. traditional (ancient) Indian philosophy to understand the roots of our educational and
learning philosophy.
At AFTERSCHO☺OL we believe that everyone must have freedom and flexibility to
decide what he or she has to learn. We believe that everyone comes with distinct capability
and therefore, everyone has to pay attention to certain sectors, which matches his / her
capabilities / dreams / aspirations / mission / vision. Let everyone decide his / her own
course of action and take concrete steps under some mentor to shape the life. Let everyone
take really serious initiatives for self transformation.
