This document outlines a research plan to investigate how effectively Hong Kong English teachers integrate information and communication technology (ICT) into their lesson preparation. The plan involves collecting consent forms in September 2008, administering online questionnaires and interviews in October 2008, conducting post-tests in January 2009, analyzing the data through February 2009, and submitting the final research in late February 2009. The significance of the research is that it could provide insight into teachers' use of technology and libraries, inform school ICT development and policies, and explore whether ICT enhances or adds to teachers' workloads when preparing lessons.

3. Significance of the research the research may provide an alterative framework about the changes and response of the information behaviour of English teachers on Hong Kong. Furthermore, the research is to investigate the effectiveness on teachers ’ preference of using library, both the school and the public ones, with the development of information technology and the increasing popularity of the Internet. This research may provide school leaders with insight for ICT development and relevant policymaking; the school leaders can also have a deeper understanding of the teachers ’ information searching behaviors so that appropriate assistance can be made accordingly. For example, how to enhance the library system in order to facilitate the use of it. This research may help to explore whether using ICT to prepare lesson will enhance the effectiveness or create addition workload to teacher.
