The multidisciplinary research group works on developing controlled drug delivery systems through various routes of administration to improve patients' quality of life. Their areas of expertise include ocular and transdermal drug delivery, absorption enhancement, iontophoresis, and prediction of skin and ocular penetration and bioavailability. They have 18 years of experience in multidisciplinary drug delivery research and focus on developing drugs, therapeutic systems, and medical devices for long-term diseases. Their research interests include transdermal and ocular delivery systems allowing modified drug release, as well as innovative 3D printed systems using new active substances and biomaterials.

OUR GROUP
Our team is truly multidisciplinary as is
composed mostly by pharmacists with
experience in drug delivery but also
incorporates a physician, an engineer and a
toxicologist

systems allowing routes for administration,
which would improve patients’ quality of life.
Ocular and Transdermal drug delivery,
enhancement of absorption, iontophoresis,
prediction and assessment of penetration and
topical bioavailability.

The group's research focuses on the
development of drugs, therapeutic systems
and medical devices for the treatment of long-

INTERESTS
Development of pharmaceutical and
cosmetic delivery systems, chiefly
transdermal and ocular, which would allow
modified release of drugs.
Design and fabrication of innovative
systems using 3D technology, including
new active substances and biomaterials.
Different strategies of study with biological
membranes are used in order to develop
therapeutic systems.
Studies carried out using in vitro, ex vivo
and in vivo methods.
Pharmacokinetic and toxic evaluation of
medical devices and/or drugs, especially
those with bioavailability issues and/or
high variability plasma concentrations.
