Research for
Shoots
By Amber Bush
Hair
I found that the hair of the models is usually
long, either blonde or brunette and has a
slight wave to the hair. Bright and diverse
hair colours and styles are not often seen.
The hair is usually shown to be very healthy
looking and bouncy, however is slightly
understated.
Make up
The make up of the model depends on
what product the brand is trying to sell,
usually the product they are trying to sell will
be the view point of the models face. For
example if the product is lipstick then the
models lips will be the view point.
Costumes
Often make up adverts will have some kind of
theme, the costumes will usually relate to this,
for example in Rimmel Scandalous Mascara
advert there is a theme of police and crime,
therefore the model fits this by wearing black
and white stripes which is associated with going
to jail. If there is no theme then the costumes will
relate to the product. For example bright
colours will be used for lipsticks more purer
colours will be worn such as whites and nudes
for foundation.
Props
Props used in adverts are usually just the
make up itself. Often the models will be
wearing jewelry or have some kind of
accessories to their outfit, again this
depends on the product. However in many
make up averts there are props such as
guitars, helicopters and horses.
Locations
Locations vary deepening on the
product and the brand. For
example, Rimmel adverts are
usually based in London,
Maybelline is usually either studio
or in New York and Barry M is
usually studio based.
