This document analyzes non-performing assets (NPAs) in nationalized banks in Madhya Pradesh, India from 2005-2008 with a focus on the priority sector. It finds that total NPAs in agriculture were Rs. 1,440 crore, in small and medium enterprises were Rs. 875.89 crore, and in other priority sectors were Rs. 1,406.77 crore. The highest NPAs were seen in other priority sectors, mainly due to doubtful assets. The study examines causes of NPAs including borrower issues like willful defaults and bank issues like lack of information systems.
