2. The music video begins with an introduction of the actors in the video, The target
audience for this video would be 16-35, white- because they usually enjoy house
music. 'Dana' from the beginning we get the impression that she is middle class, she is
not overly sexualized as she is wearing a buttoned shirt, but also a short skirt, she
looks pretty and innocent. In addition, 'Paul' is perceived as a white, middle class man
who is quite trendy.
3. The location straightaway comes across as realistic for a couples first house, it is quite typical, in addition it
looks nice, clean and well painted. It looks like a mixture of different styles of furniture, this reinforces the
modest place the couple lives in.
This shows the places they have travelled together, these cities are considered cool, good
place for couples to visit, this suggests they have been together for a long time.
4. Main parts of the representation in this video are
constructed through zeitgeist elements, such as ‘Call of
Duty’, the use of iPhone and the text messages on
screen, this relates to the overuse of todays ‘texting’ as a
trend.
This shows a stereotypical representation of
masculinity, it infantilises men as they can’t be
trusted to do housework. Not being able to do
the washing reinforces gender stereotypes
through humour.
5. “1 real fight” – the use of the male character in this circumstance is suppose to
be humorous, they wasn’t able to use a female because they suffer from
domestic violence more than men. This reinforces gender inequality, it lacks an
understanding of domestic violence.
