•As with most aspects of medicine, it
is important to have a thorough
routine when analysing investigation
results and presenting findings to
colleagues.
We haven'tdone quite enoughjustyet to makea fullreport, butyoushould
by nowfeel confidentto understandand reporton the following:
I. Identify the ECG (Patient & Date).
II. What is the ventricular rate?
III. Is the rate regular or irregular?
IV. Is the patient in sinus rhythm?
V. Describe the cardiac axis (normal, left or right deviation)?
VI. Are the PR intervals within normal range?
VII. Are the QRS intervals within normal range? (Broad or narrow
complexes?)
In time, and using the rest of thistutorial as a startingpoint, youshouldalso
be ableto understandand reporton the following:
I. Are the P waves normal?
II. Are the QRS complexes normal?
III. Are the ST segments normal?
IV. Are the T waves normal?
V. Differential diagnosis.
