Elephants are the largest land animals. They can weigh as much as a car. Male elephants live alone while female elephants live in family groups and help raise babies. Elephants have long trunks made of their nose and upper lip that they use like a hand to break off branches, bring food to their mouth, and suck up water. Elephants have two big tusks made of ivory on each side of their mouth, which they use to dig for food and rip bark off trees.
