Snowy owls (Nyctea scandiaca) are a large, white owl species found in Arctic and sub-Arctic regions, mostly in North America. They have dark brown markings on white feathers, weigh 1.6-2 kg, and have a wingspan of 1.5 m. Snowy owls eat small mammals like rats and rabbits. They have excellent eyesight and hearing that allows them to hunt prey in low light conditions.
