Rizal spent his last day saying goodbye to friends and family who visited him in prison. He wrote farewell letters and gifted personal items. That evening, he attended mass and took communion. The next morning, he walked calmly to the execution site while remembering his childhood. At Bagumbayan Field, Rizal shook hands with the priests and his lawyer before facing the firing squad. Despite orders to be shot from behind, Rizal turned to face the squad with a rosary in hand. He was pronounced dead at 7:03am on December 30, 1896.
