This document provides an overview of the activities of the Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) during the fiscal year 2009. It summarizes two evaluations recently completed by the IEO on IMF involvement in international trade policy issues and governance of the IMF. It also discusses cross-cutting issues and lessons learned from the ongoing global financial crisis. Finally, it outlines ongoing and future evaluation topics for the IEO including the IMF's interactions with member countries and role in the run-up to the current crisis.
