This document is the 2012 International Energy Efficiency Scorecard report published by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). The report analyzes and scores 12 major economies on their energy efficiency across national efforts, buildings, industry and transportation. It finds that the top-scoring countries demonstrate solid performance across all sectors, while no country achieves a perfect score and all have room for improvement. The United States scores relatively low overall due to weaknesses in national efforts, buildings and transportation. The report makes recommendations for how countries can advance energy efficiency to boost economic competitiveness.
The Economic Impact of Hearing Loss in AustraliaSophiaJohn12
Together with vision and touch, hearing enables humans to interact with our environment at all levels. One in six Australians is affected by hearing loss. Prevalence rates for hearing loss are associated with increasing age, rising from less than 1% for people aged younger than 15 years to three in every four people aged over 70 years. People with hearing loss have poorer educational and employment outcomes than the rest of the population.

Demand response is the largest underutilized reliability resource in North America. Historic demand response programs have focused on reducing overall electricity consumption (increasing efficiency) and shaving peaks but have not typically been used
for immediate reliability response. Many of these programs have been successful but demand response remains a limited resource. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) report, Assessment of Demand Response and Advanced Metering (FERC 2006) found that only five percent of customers are on some form of demand response program. Collectively they represent an estimated 37,000 MW of response
potential. These programs reduce overall energy consumption and they also reduce stress on the power system at times of peak loading. More recently demand response has begun to be considered, and in some cases actually
used, to directly supply reliability services to the power system. Rather than reducing
overall power system stress by reducing peak loading over multiple hours these programs
are targeted to immediately respond to specific reliability events. This is made possible
by advances in communications and controls and has benefits for the power system and
the load.

This report is NanoMarkets’ latest report analyzing the CIGS industry and its prospects for the future. NanoMarkets has been covering the CIGS space since CIGS’ earliest days and this report should be regarded as a major guide to the future of CIGS, compiled with an insider’s knowledge. It examines the future of this important solar panel technology from both the standpoint of the technical and the commercial. And it does so with a background in which it seems likely that many of the subsidies that have helped solar in the past will fade away and that the world economy will not return to the strong growth of the last decade for quite some time.

Educational researchers are learning that students are better served when provided opportunities to develop deep knowledge about a few "big ideas" rather than a superficial knowledge of a broader range of ideas and information. This book can facilitate classroom teaching and students exam preparation.

FICCI strongly believes that the creation of a strong and secure supply chain in India for the solar sector will enable creation of jobs, reduce foreign exchange outflow and lead to increase in investments and sustainable growth of the sector in the long run. There is a strong need to incentivize investments in creating the domestic supply chain with help from both domestic and global players, and to facilitate collaborative arrangements towards enhancing research and development efforts. There is also a strong case for international companies with extensive technology and experience globally to participate in building a strong supply chain in India and be part of India's solar growth story.
This Report on Securing the Solar Supply Chain highlights demand opportunities and key issues for the solar manufacturing supply chain and provides policy recommendations to enable creation of a strong supply chain for solar energy in India.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms.
