To whom it may concern
This letter serves as a reference for Kirsten Maddocks, who completed an internship with
Greenpop for 13 weeks from 5 April 2016 in Cape Town, South Africa. Kirsten completed
work in our Planting department, as an Urban greening & Nursery intern.
Kirsten would be a valuable addition to any team as she has the ability to achieve the goals
laid out for her and always delivering them with professionalism.
Tasks included monitoring visits to (potential) beneficiaries, research, nursery maintenance
and preparations for plant days. She also actively participated in tree planting with children
at schools in under-privileged areas.
Kirsten has shown a lot of potential and interest in research based tasks and has excelled
when asked to do them. One task in particular stands out. She was asked to compile an
information booklet for a skills based workshop that was held at the nursery. The mini
workshops included organic urban farming, nutrient cycling and hydroponics. The latter was
a task she particularly excelled in and I was delighted to see her go the extra mile. She
showed genuine interest beyond the requirements of the task.
She did really well with her research tasks and always completed them timeously and very
well. She is also a very strong personality and is assertive, which came across when she had
to deal with some personal matters that would have meant she would have to leave the
internship early but she chose to stay and complete what she had started.
The whole team at Greenpop was very sad to see Kirsten leave. Her enthusiastic dedication,
hard work and can-do attitude were immensely appreciated here and we could not have
asked for a better team member. She will be surely missed.
If considering Kirsten for a study placement, internship or a job, I would highly recommend
her.
