OVERVIEW & PERSONAL STATEMENT
During my 16 years of employment at Arthur Bugler Primary School, I have developed a strong relationship with the
local community. Being responsible and managing the school’s website and Facebook page provides me with the
opportunity to interact with parents, and I am normally first port of call with any queries or concerns that parents
may have. I have also held meetings within the school for parents to inform them about E-Safety and the use of
our School’s Virtual Learning Environment, as Safeguarding is an important part of my role.
I spent seven years in the School’s Early Years setting providing feedback to the Teacher and Parents. I was also
very fortunate to have been involved in the terms planning and helping to gather and research resources for our
planned activities. I was responsible for planning and setting up my own activities, for example, activities in order
for the children to improve their fine motor skills, and encouraging the children to interact and talk to each other.
In addition, I have spent 2 years working with children with disabilities. One child had Mosaic Downs Sydrome, and
his support was mainly for behaviour. Another child that I worked with, one to one, was a child with Cerebral Palsy.
My duties included personal care, behaviour monitoring, speech and language exercises, fine motor skills (ready for
Braille) and also physiotherapy. I am currently supporting a young boy with memory, language and speech
problems. I have always been included in meetings with outside agencies, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language,
Sight Impairment, and have continual contact with parents and my line manager (SENCO). Reports are written up
termly providing updates on progress and targets met and to be met.
I work well as part of a team, and have been asked to work in other year groups. It is important when working in a
team that everyone feels valued, and I feel that I am able to make people feel involved and valued.
I work well under pressure, and recently, for our latest project/topic, I worked with 60 children (in small groups) and
baked biscuits. This had to be done within 2 days, as they had a Bake Sale to organise.
My energy and enthusiasm is always commented on by the Headteacher, work colleagues and School Governors. I
put 100% effort into any projects that we are undertaking, and also into the care of all the children in the school. I
listen to them if they have concerns, and spend my lunchtimes working with children who wish to read, or just be
someone to talk to and spend time with. I try to make learning fun and enjoyable for all those involved. Being part
of and joining an activity is the key to learning. I am willing to be flexible, and this has been shown by my ability to
move through all three key stages and to adapt to varied teaching styles.
