Welcome
to the Discovery Centre in Wentworth point. Here you can
discovery the way that we created and modelled the re-
development of Wentworth point.
This power point presentation will demonstrate to you what we
did to the area to shape a new community in Wentworth Point
and what we did to improve and strengthen the district using
ideas of sustainability.
7. The Importance of Sustainability
In the process of designing Wentworth Point; the ‘Wentworth Secret’
design team came together to discuss the different ways we can
benefit Wentworth point, while trying not to effect it too much in a
negative way.
This is a crucial stage because it is important to plan out what we need
to create a sustainable area in a way that is beneficial all around so
that Wentworth point can stay for many years to come.
Sustainability Is a very important factor in designing because if it isn’t
considered throughout any project, it may not

8. Sustainability in the Discovery Centre

In the early stages of the design process the design team got together
to discuss how we can add to our buildings to make it so that it would
be beneficial to the environment and be convenient for the future. We
brainstormed and researched many key ideas and put them into the
buildings. These include;
• Sloped roof with water tank (collects the rain water efficiently and
goes into the water tank easily and saves money on water bills)
• Solar panels (to receive energy from the sun and helps save money
on hot water and electricity bills)
• Strategically placed windows (we have placed windows in very
selective places so that throughout the day we get natural light from
the sun so that artificial light is not needed as often, this reduces our
consumption on electricity and again saves us money)
9. Sustainability of Wentworth Point
Our guarantee in Wentworth point is that we have provided it
with a wide variety of features that will make it last for as many
generations to come.
It’s sustainability is one of the things that we valued most in the
process of designing, and constructing.

worth point (especially on the main three) there are;

10. Sustainability of Wentworth Point
• Solar panels-to harness the energy of the sun for our own
uses and advantage to aid us in the future
• Water tanks- to collect large amounts of water to use
our gardens and help save us money costs on unneeded water
• Ramps and disabled access- so that the elderly and frail have
access to our buildings
