3. What is Sustainability and why it is
important to consider in the design
process
Sustainability is important to making sure that we have and will
continue to have, the water, materials, and resources to protect
human health and our environment.
It’s important to be considering sustainability because we need
to make sure that things that we do for Wentworth Point now
aren't going to cause us problems in the future. So we need to
be reducing our water consumption. We also need to ensure
that we are preserving historical buildings around the area and
make sure that our designs will not be harmful or have an effect
on them.

principles into the redevelopment of
Wentworth Point

The sustainable design principles we have incorporated into the
redevelopment of Wentworth point are:
• There will be many water tanks located all around Wentworth
point that will provide the apartments, shopping centres etc.
with water.
• There will be solar panels on majority of the buildings in
Wentworth point to help with energy efficiency.
• We will be using as many recycled and reusable materials as
possible for the construction of our buildings.

5. Incorporated aspects of sustainable
design when creating the Wentworth
Point Discovery Centre
The aspects of sustainable design that we have incorporated are:
• Rain water tank will provide water for the water fountain
outside the Discovery centre and for the water fountain on
the roof garden of the Discovery centre.
• There is a veggie garden in the back of the Discovery centre
that will send vegetables to the shopping centre.
• There will be solar panels on several of the buildings around
Wentworth point to help reduce the amount of electricity we
will be using.
